Introduction This recruitment is being opened to fill only full-time vacancies assigned to the San Joaquin County Jail Complex and to establish an eligible list which may be used to fill future vacancies at the County Jail Complex. The Crafts Worker III position at the Jail Complex also receives an additional 7.5% supplement pay for working in the facilities. Pre-Employment Physical, Drug Screen and Background : Potential new hires into this classification are required to successfully pass a pre-employment physical examination, a pre-employment drug screen and a background investigation that is conducted by the Sheriff's Office as a condition of employment. The Ideal Candidate: The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 6 years of experience as a helicopter mechanic. The candidate will be able to understand the maintenance flow of five helicopters and manage the workload to provide the maximum number of aircraft in service each day. Incumbent will perform skilled plumbing work to maintain and repair plumbing systems, fixtures and equipment. Incumbent will respond to repair orders, prioritize, diagnose, estimate costs, acquire materials through purchase order system, make repairs, document time and material costs, implement a preventative maintenance schedule and perform maintenance as required, install water supply, waste, steam and gas lines and related fixtures and fittings in accordance with the applicable plumbing codes, review blueprints and design and lay-out plumbing systems, serve as lead worker and trainer for free staff and inmate crew in prison setting, assist contractors when required and other duties as assigned.
