Receives instruction and learns the proper care and safe operation of pool filtration systems and basic pool maintenance. Receives instruction and prepares for authorized lifesaving, first aid, and cardiopulmonary certifications. Engages in physical fitness training drills established by the Department. Requirements Minimum Requirements: No experience required. Age: Sixteen at time of swim test. Valid photo ID with date of birth will be required. Ability: Candidates must have the ability to swim 300 yards in 6:30 minutes or less. License: A valid California Class C Driver's License or the ability to utilize an alternative method of transportation when needed to carry out job-related essential functions. Vision : At least 20/30 in each eye with correction, and at least 20/200 with both eyes open without correction. Hearing : There may be no greater than a 25 dB loss in the better ear as averaged over the test frequencies of 500, 1000, 2000, and 3000 Hz. There may not be a peak loss at any of the test frequencies greater than: 30 dB at 500 Hz 30 dB at 1000 Hz 40 dB at 2000 Hz 40 dB at 3000 Hz There may be no greater than a 35 dB loss in the worse ear as averaged over the test frequencies, and no peak loss greater than 45 dB at any of the test frequencies. In the case of a questionable, unusual, or borderline hearing loss, the applicant's record will be reviewed by the Occupational Health Service consultant in otolaryngology who will make a recommendation as to the applicant's employability and forward it to the Medical Director for final disposition. Physical Class: 4 - Arduous. This class involves frequent heavy lifting over 25 pounds, often combined with bending, twisting, or working above ground on irregular surfaces. It includes those positions that occasionally demand extraordinary physical activity such as those in Safety positions. Additional Information Examination content : T his examination will consist of a performance test weighted 100%, a swim test of 300 yards which must be completed in 6:30 minutes or less. All candidates finishing within the time limit will receive a score of 100%; candidates who do not complete within the 6:30 minute time limit will receive a failing score. Introduction Central Plant Engineer PT by Employment Services Team TYPICAL DUTIES Monitors facilities/building management systems and corresponding computer based systems, including but not limited to the PEVCO PT3000 Pneumatic Tube System, Johnson Control Facility Management System (Metasys F.M.S.), medical gas pipeline distribution systems (Operator Work Station Mega Network Monitor), total elevator diagnostic system (Operator Work Station Montgomery T.E.D.9.3 System) and fire alarm system, (Operator Work Station Cerberus Pyrotronics Fire Alarm Monitoring System); dispatches appropriate repair and or maintenance personnel, as needed. Starts, operates, monitors, adjusts, terminates, and performs a variety of skilled operational repairs on multiple fuel powered boilers that are fired by #2 diesel and natural gas; evaluates quality and the chemical balance of feed water, boiler water, steam and condensates. Controls cooling systems; evaluates the quality and the chemical balance of feed water, steam and condensates; performs complex chemical testing procedures including but not limited to titration techniques; monitors other electric and electronic controls which regulate and operate compressors, boilers, absorption and reciprocating chillers and all auxiliary equipment, including cooling towers and circulating pumps. Prepares computer-generated trending reports and charts. Maintains a variety of hand-written daily logs indicating various readings for facility management systems; provides logs and or summaries for review by the Facilities Manager. Performs visual inspection of diesel generators to ensure that in the case of power outage these generators are readily available for use; operates and monitors the diesel powered generators in case of power outage. KNOWLEDGE The operation of high-pressure boilers and associated equipment found in a Central Plant; operate and monitor facilities/building management systems and computer based monitoring systems; hazards and safety precautions in a Central Plant; methods of functioning boiler and cooling systems, pneumatic tube systems, facility management systems, gas pipeline distribution systems, elevator diagnostic systems, and fire alarm monitoring systems. ABILITY Operate, adjust and trouble shoot computer based automated control systems; react quickly and calmly to facilities and equipment malfunctions in emergency situations; communicate orally and in writing; establish and maintain effective working relationships with others in a hospital setting. The Department Courses taught within the Department of University Studies are designed to provide students with academic and transitional support. Through University Studies courses, new members of the Sonoma State community are welcomed to campus with introductions to campus resources, mentoring opportunities, and tools for academic success. Students develop their personal, academic, and career goals and cultivate a sense of responsibility to themselves and the world around them. Together with co-curricular activities these learning experiences lay a strong foundation for lifelong personal and intellectual growth. First- and Second-Year Transition programs are offered in University Studies through partnerships with the academic home department. Through first-year learning communities (FLCs) and sophomore year experiences (SYEs), these programs provide peer mentor support, transition content, and typically also meet general education course requirements. University Studies also partners with the Center for Academic Access and Student Enrichment to provide academic courses for the Summer Bridge program. Duties of the Position Courses available in University Studies can be accessed through the SSU Catalog. Instructors teaching these courses are responsible for all aspects of course development following the provided master course syllabus and/or course guideline document. For multi-section courses, FLCs, or courses affiliated with the Summer Bridge program, faculty will also receive course guidance from the University Studies Curriculum Committee or Summer Bridge. Faculty teaching in the FLC will also be required to collaborate with peer mentors and other FLC faculty. Professional Qualifications To be recommended for appointment, the candidate must have: A minimum MA/MS or equivalent degree in a field related to the disciplinary content of the course; a terminal degree is preferred. Demonstrated experience teaching the disciplinary content of the course and supporting first and second year students. Training in and/or experience with equitable and inclusive teaching pedagogies. When applicable, demonstrated commitment to collaborating with teaching partners such as peer mentors or Summer Bridge. Rank and Salary Full-time is a 15-unit workload per semester. Actual salary is dependent upon the number of units assigned, educational preparation, and availability of funds subject to any CSU system faculty contract salary increases. Salary commensurate with degree level and experience. Anticipated Hiring Salary Range: $4,530 - $6,056 per full-time month. The full-time (15 units per semester) monthly base salary range indicated above is prorated to the number of units worked and are paid in six monthly payments for each full semester. Temporary Faculty appointments are made on a part-time, temporary basis and contingent upon department needs and funding. Temporary Faculty appointments are made on a semester-by-semester basis.
