The Lyles College of Engineering at California State University, Fresno invites applications for a full-time lecturer position within the Department of Civil and Geomatics Engineering, with a concentration in Geomatics Engineering.   • Initial Contract: Two Years (renewable upon evaluation and enrollment)

  • The Lecturer B (Academic Year) classification salary is $5,405 to $11,994/per month (12 monthly payments per academic year). The anticipated hiring range is $5,405 to $6,667/per month ($64,848-$80,000 academic year) commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Position Summary:

The full-time lecturer in Geomatics Engineering will demonstrate a commitment to teaching, student mentoring, and working effectively with faculty, staff, and students from diverse ethnic, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds. The lecturer will be expected to:

Teach hands-on labs and experiential courses in geomatics engineering such as Survey Engineering, Municipal Surveying, Computer Aided Drafting, Subdivision Design, and Legal Descriptions, and develop new courses as needed.
  • Engage in student-related activities such as supervising student projects, advising students, student clubs, coaching teams for student competitions, etc.;
  • Engage in professional and scholarly activities such as continuing education and participating in geomatics / land surveying professional organizations, etc.;
  • Help build and maintain strong relationships with industry partners to ensure the continued growth of geomatics engineering education at Fresno State

Specific assignments are dependent on departmental needs and the background of the individual.

Qualifications:

Required:
Master’s degree in Geomatics Engineering, Land Surveying, or a related field, a commitment to working effectively with faculty, staff, and students from diverse ethnic, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds Candidates with Bachelor’s degree in Geomatics Engineering, Land Surveying, or a related field with at least 10 years industry experience in the United States, and a Professional Land Surveyors License within the United States will be considered for a Lecturer-A position.
Preferred:
At least 5 years of Land Surveying experience in the United States. Professional Land Surveyor’s License from any state in the United States; Candidates who do not have a Land Surveyor’s License shall demonstrate a commitment to earn the license within five years of appointment to the position. Experience in traditional Land Surveying techniques including but not limited to land surveying technology and methods, construction surveying, drafting, legal descriptions, subdivision design, and municipal surveying. College level teaching experience

About the Program:

The Geomatics Engineering program is the only standalone 4 year ABET accredited program in the State of California. The Geomatics program at Fresno State was the first ABET accredited 4-year surveying program in the nation. Supported by industry, the Geomatics Engineering program has well equipped labs with industry standard contemporary surveying technologies for teaching and research.

Fresno State Geomatics Engineering is well known for curricular innovation, service learning, and industry engagement which provides numerous professional development, scholarships and employment opportunities to its diverse study body.

The Department of Civil and Geomatics Engineering in the Lyles College of Engineering, California State University, Fresno, provides a Bachelor of Science in Geomatics Engineering, a program accredited through the Accreditation Board for Engineering (ABET). The department also provides a Master of Science in Civil Engineering with a focus in Geomatics Engineering as well as a minor in Surveying Engineering.
