The Job

Children and Family Services (CFS) is recruiting for Lead Social Service Practitioners who function as lead workers and provide diagnosis, assessment, intervention, and case management support to individual groups, children and/or families with complex health, psychosocial or economic problems. Incumbents also perform specialized social work duties, train and mentor Social Workers and lower level Social Service Practitioners, and assist Supervising Social Service Practitioners with supervisory functions. SPECIAL ASSIGNMENTS/FINANCIAL INCENTIVES

Candidates available for the following assignments are encouraged to apply and may receive additional compensation as specified in the MOU .

  • Standby or call-back duty
  • Rotating/Swing/Night Shift: CFS provides 24-hour emergency response services and operates an After Hours Response Center, which requires availability to work swing and/or night shift. Positions may be assigned to work a 4/10 or 3/12 schedule and may be eligible to receive an Evening/Night Shift Differential. Make sure to indicate a willingness to work rotating shifts, which includes weekends, on your application.


CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

Travel: Incumbents travel throughout the County, and must possess and maintain a valid California Class C driver license and a clean driving record. Long distance and occasional out-of-state travel may be required, applicants must be able to travel by airplane. Employees may be required to use personal vehicles and show proof of automobile liability insurance.

Physical: Employees visit clients in their homes and other settings to complete risk and safety assessments. Incumbents must be able to visually assess allegations of abuse and the client's environment as mandated by the State of California. Positions require ability to lift and carry children up to fifty (50) lbs.

Minimum Requirements

Experience: Two (2) years of experience, all of which must have been obtained within the last five (5) years, in a government child welfare agency performing duties equivalent to a journey-level Social Service Practitioner in San Bernardino County. Equivalent experience must include performing complex social work assignments, comprehensive diagnostic assessments, in-depth clinical intervention, and treatment plans. Note: Experience as a Social Worker II or Social Service Practitioner I is not considered qualifying.

--AND--

Education: A Master's degree in Social Work from a school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education -OR- a Master's degree in Human Services, Psychology, Counseling with an emphasis in marriage, family, or child counseling, or a closely related field.

Candidates in Final Year of Master's Program : Applications will be accepted from candidates who are within 120 days of completing a qualifying degree provided they meet the minimum requirements for experience at time of application. Job offers may be made contingent upon degree completion; verification of qualifications will be required prior to hire.

The ideal candidate will possess experience in training/mentoring and Safety Organized Practice.
