The Department of Public Health (DPH) is recruiting for Registered Nurses (RN) II - Clinic who provide direct patient care in Public Health Clinics. Duties include assisting physicians, nurse practitioners, and other medical/nursing staff by performing a variety of activities such as taking patient histories; providing patient follow up; performing screening tests; drawing blood; administering prescribed treatment and medication; auditing services of licensed and unlicensed personnel; assessing the need for and providing immunization injections; and instructing, educating, and counseling patients on a variety of health care and medical topics.

Needles lies on the western banks of the Colorado River in the Mohave Valley subregion of the Mojave Desert, near the borders of Arizona and Nevada. Needles is located approximately 215 miles/3.5 hours east of San Bernardino.

**Hiring Bonus : Eligible employees hired into a regular classified position from this recruitment may be eligible to received $3,000 bonus in total compensation. Please see CNA MOU for details.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

Assignment Location: Incumbent hire for this position will be assigned to work in Needles, CA. Applicants who do not indicate a willingness to work in Needles will be disqualified.

Travel/Driver License: Travel throughout the County may be required. Employees will be required to make provision for transportation (mileage reimbursement is available). At the time of hire, a valid California Class C driver license and proof of automobile liability insurance must be produced and maintained for the individual providing the transportation.
Background Check: Applicants selected for these positions must pass a background investigation and verification of employment history and education including a physical exam and drug screening.
Continued Education: Additional training/coursework may be required.
BLS Certification: Valid Healthcare Provider level Basic Life Support (BLS) certificate (Course Completion Card) issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) must be provided prior to employment start/hire date, and must be maintained through the duration of the RN I/II - Clinic employment. Contingent job offers may be made to candidates who have indicated that they have successfully completed the required Healthcare Provider level Basic Life Support (BLS) course, and are currently pending receipt of their AHA BLS Course Completion Card. Per AHA FAQ, AHA Training Centers must issue Course Completion Cards within 20 days of successful course completion. Minimum Requirements

Applicants must meet all of the following licensure/certificatio n requirements:

Licensure/Certification: Applicants must possess and maintain both of the following items:
  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license issued by the California Board of Registered Nursing (CA BRN), -and-
  • Valid Healthcare Provider level Basic Life Support (BLS) certificate (Course Completion Card) issued by the American Heart Association.


**Experience: In addition to the licensure/certification requirements listed above, RN II - Clinic applicants must possess six (6) months of full-time equivalent experience performing duties as a licensed RN.

Desired Qualifications

If you possess a Master's degree in Nursing and experience with Microsoft Office and electronic medical records programs we strongly encourage you to apply!

Applicants fluent in American Sign Language, Arabic, Korean, Mandarin, Spanish and/or Vietnamese are strongly encouraged to apply. Additional compensation is associated with positions requiring the use of bilingual skills. Testing of bilingual skills may be required to receive additional compensation.
