Fabricates and installs a variety of parts and equipment and performs minor welding; Maintains and cleans tools and work areas and disposes of the hazardous waste following City guidelines; Keeps current with new technology and participates in various training activities. QUALIFICATIONS Possession of Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certificates A-1, A-5, A-6, A-7, & A-8 a valid California Class B driver license. Possessing ASE certification as an Alternate Fuels Technician (Test F-1) is desirable AND one year of professional work experience as an automotive/equipment mechanic performing light vehicle repairs. Qualifications:

The Fleet Services department manages and maintains a fleet of over 1,400 vehicles/equipment and is responsible for acquiring new vehicles/equipment, preparing specifications, and ensuring compliance with local, state, and federally mandated regulations.
The Senior Director of Fleet Services will oversee the department's 45 full-time employees, including five direct reports: Assistant Director of Fleet Services, Management Analyst, Accounting Technician, Vehicle Maintenance Contracts Coordinator, and Senior Administrative Assistant. This position has direct supervision over the Fleet Maintenance Manager, Vehicle Maintenance Coordinators, Radio Systems Technician I, and Inventory Coordinator. The Director is responsible for overseeing the FY 24 $8M budget for the fleet units and managing the fleet replacement fund of $15M.
The Director is familiar with utilizing data from various systems (e.g., fleet management system, fuel management system, etc.) to analyze information and create reports on departmental activities. The Director is responsible for directing and coordinating automotive and heavy equipment repair and preventative maintenance programs to maximize equipment utilization and prevent operational delays.
Qualifications:
A bachelor's degree in business administration or a related major supplemented by six (6) years of experience in fleet management or a closely related field, of which four (4) years are in a supervisory position; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Salary and Benefits:

Conduct wastewater stream, digester gas, potable water, ocean water and urban runoff sampling activities; perform field testing as needed. Organize and label sample bottles on a regular basis. Operate and maintain refrigerated auto-samplers. Record laboratory equipment temperatures and maintenance performed. Log and/or receive samples into a Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS). Aliquot samples into appropriate containers and disseminate to designated laboratory work areas. Clean, maintain, repair, and calibrate sampling equipment following established procedures and maintenance schedules or when needed. Clean and maintain assigned vehicles including washing and fueling. Report needed truck and cart mechanical repairs to the fleet services. Inspect sampling facilities. Respond, troubleshoot, and correct routine and unexpected problems. Participate in both internal and external audits.
