THE POSITION Are you ready to make an impact in your community? The City of Rancho Cordova Neighborhood Services Division is looking for a Neighborhood Services Technician I to support the Animal Services team on a limited term of 2 years. The Neighborhood Services Technician will assist on Animal Service cases by qualifying residents and their pet for the Rancho Cordova Community Animal Services Support Program. The Program is funded by a two-year UC Davis grant and this position will run congruently with the term of the grant. The main function of this program is to help residents in need of support to maintain humane treatment of their pets while also reducing the negative impact on the shelter system. The Neighborhood Services Technician will work closely with residents, Animal Services Officers, veterinary hospitals, grant funders, and other resource providers. The incumbent will be an integral member of the Office support team which is responsible for upgrading, troubleshooting, repairing, or replacing software and hardware components on workstations such as adding memory, swapping hard disk drives and monitors; attaching peripherals; and configuring and installing desktop applications for optimum performance; configuration of user accounts email accounts, interviewing users to identify needs and resolve workstation issues; assisting users by troubleshooting and resolving help requests as well as providing introductory and ongoing training to workstation users; participating in the research of hardware and software components for procurement according to agency policies and procedures, evaluating products in terms of agency needs, and making purchase recommendations to management. In addition, they will aid other teams in IT as necessary and appropriate, as an example you may provide direct support to Telco systems when instructed by the Telco team. The incumbent must be able to use imaging software to configure workstations; install and test new and recycled workstations; install approved application software on client computers; complete all required transfer/delivery documents; make appropriate changes, get signatures and deliver documents to assigned inventory staff; respond to help desk calls and resolve problems as assigned; review Help Desk log daily and annotate with resolutions to Help tickets; install, test and replace hardware as required on client computers; contact vendors for hardware or software support as required; and assist in periodic IT equipment inventories.
