The Position

Social Workers are licensed professionals who provide case management services to children, families, vulnerable adults with intellectual, developmental, physical disabilities, serious mental illness, and older adults (collectively referred to as "vulnerable adults") and other individuals within local communities and institutions.

Incumbents perform in a trainee capacity and acquire the knowledge, skills and abilities required in this occupation.

Aging and Disability Services Division (ADSD) is recruiting for multiple Social Worker 1 positions within Home & Community Based Services (HCBS) and Adult Protective Services (APS) located in Las Vegas, Nevada. This recruitment may be used to fill current and future vacancies as they occur. This recruitment is to underfill a Social Worker 2 position with Home & Community Based Services and to underfill a Social Worker 3 with Adult Protective Services. Advancement to the next level may occur after meeting the minimum qualification, satisfactory performance, and with endorsement of the appointing authority. The social workers within ADSD may support Nevada's frail older adults and people with physical disabilities to remain independent in the community and prevent long term care placements. Additionally, be responsible for assisting vulnerable adults, age 18 to 59, in addition to persons 60 years and older who are abused, neglected, exploited, isolated, or abandoned by investigating, providing, or arranging for services to alleviate and prevent further maltreatment while safeguarding their civil liberties. To Qualify:

In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications) Licensure or provisional licensure as a Social Worker, Clinical Social Worker, Independent Social Worker or Associate in Social Work. Special Requirements A valid driver's license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment. A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for fingerprinting. Licensure or provisional licensure by the State of Nevada Board of Examiners for Social Workers as a Social Worker, Clinical Social Worker, Independent Social Worker, or Associate in Social Work is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of employment. The Examination Application Evaluation Exam The exam will consist of an application evaluation.
