General Description and Classification Standards

Maintains the overall cleanliness of the facility and the grounds surrounding the facility. Duties may include, but are not limited to: cleaning facility using janitorial equipment including mops, brooms, buffing machines, vacuums, and various other kinds of equipment.

Supervision Received

Works under general supervision. May work independently or with team for completion of assigned tasks.

Monitors the appearance of the facility; checks floors, inspects and monitors restrooms at least hourly every day; communicates with building supervisor to ensure that meeting rooms are clean and stocked, as needed. Cleans the facility; cleans, sweeps, mops and stocks the restrooms daily; strips, waxes, and buffs tile floors, as needed; cleans vents on a monthly basis and/or as needed; may dust and polish furniture, window ledges, light fixtures, etc. Prepares rooms for meetings; communicates with building supervisor to ensure that clean and prepared for scheduled meetings, as needed. Monitors the grounds of the facility; inspects areas surrounding the facility, not limited to the parking lot throughout the day. Cleans the grounds of the facility; picks up debris / trash in the parking lot; removes debris / trash from walk way leading to facility. Identify and report building maintenance needs. Respond to public inquiries in a courteous manner; provide information, resolve complaints in an efficient and timely manner. Maintains a clean and organized workspace.

Follows standardized procedures and written instructions to accomplish assigned tasks; may select from multiple procedures and methods to accomplish tasks.

Knowledge of: basic custodial procedures; of common hand tools and janitorial equipment. Skill in the use of floor buffing machines, carpet shampooing machines, and other cleaning machines and Ability to: to learn about occupational hazards and safety precautions for the proper management of chemicals, trash, body fluids, etc.; to use common hand tools and janitorial equipment; to maintain professionalism to with visitors and employees of the facility; to understand and carry out oral and written instructions and posted schedules; to efficiently complete assigned tasks within work time.

Minimum Qualifications - Education and Experience

High school diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED).

Preferred Qualifications - Education and Experience

High school diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED) and 6 months related work experience, may be paid or volunteer, part time or full time.
