The Position

Grounds Maintenance Workers perform landscape, garden and greenhouse duties such as planting, pruning, mowing, trimming, watering, fertilizing, weeding and snow and ice prevention and removal; and operate hand and power tools, power mowers, tractor mowers, trenching devices, forklifts and hoists.

This is a Seasonal position with the Department of Administration, State Public Works Division, Buildings and Grounds Section. It is located in Carson City. This position reports directly to the Grounds Supervisor 1. This position assists existing staff with additional grounds maintenance duties during the peak season of spring, summer, and winter. To Qualify:

In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications) Six months of experience as a general laborer that included the operation of tools and small equipment; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. Special Notes Incumbents must be available for standby/call back. Incumbents may be required to work extended hours, weekends, and holidays in addition to their normal work schedules. Special Requirements A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items. Requires a valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility at the time of appointment and for continuing employment. The Examination Application Evaluation Exam The exam will consist of an application evaluation.
