The Position

Mental Health Technicians supplement the work of mental health professionals, health specialists, and nursing staff in providing direct client care for clients in a mental health facility.

Southern Nevada Adult Mental Health Services (SNAMHS) is recruiting for Mental Health Technician I (underfill for Mental Health Technician 3) for the Mesquite Behavioral Health Center. Mental Health Technicians provide professional direct patient care to mentally ill adults, youth, and their families under immediate and direct supervision. Incumbents instruct and oversee clients with their daily living skills, implement therapeutic interventions, transport individuals to and from appointments using state vehicles, collect and maintain client data and files by entering information into an electronic medical records database, and will facilitate or co-facilitate individual or group basic skills training sessions under direct supervision of mental health professionals. Incumbents receive training in all duties assigned and work directly with a team of clinicians, psychiatric nurses, and other mental health professionals in an outpatient setting. This position also provides clerical support for the Medication Clinic and the front office. This position requires a current State of Nevada Driver's License. The anticipated work schedule is 8am to 5pm Monday-Friday, with Saturday and Sunday off. Incumbent will be working an innovative variable schedule with overtime after 40 hours per week. In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications) Graduation from high school or equivalent education and one year of general work experience; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above. Special Requirements A valid driver's license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continued employment. Applicants must successfully complete a pre-employment physical and be free of active tuberculosis. A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant at the cost of the applicant. Pursuant to NRS 284.4066, this position has been identified as affecting public safety. Persons offered employment in this position must submit to a pre-employment screening for controlled substances.
