Job Description

The Family Health Services Clinics of the Health and Social Services Department is currently recruiting for Clinic Physician (Board Certified). The mission of Family Health Services (FHS) is to provide superior, comprehensive, primary medical and dental care in order to improve the health and quality of life of Solano County residents. We have a special commitment to the uninsured, low-income, and medically underserved. As a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC), we are a safety net provider. To support our mission, FHS offers four conveniently located clinics in Fairfield, Vacaville, and Vallejo and mobile medical and dental vans in which we provide primary care and dental services. The outpatient primary care clinics see patients five days a week, with some weekend and evening hours offered.

THE POSITION

Clinic Physicians provide medical services for programs including general medical clinics, specialized clinics, and occupational medical services.

Clinic Physicians are responsible for providing direct medical services for Health and Social Services Department clients in various programs. Clinic Physicians perform highly responsible and specialized professional functions and tasks independently requiring a high degree of professional level knowledge and expertise and excellent organizational and communication skills. Clinic Physicians are expected to be well versed in clinical practice guidelines for managing acute and chronic medical conditions.

The Board Certified Clinic Physician differs from the Clinic Physician job class by maintaining certification by a specialty board recognized by the American Medical Association or the American Osteopathic Association. Clinic Physicians may have programmatic, clinical, and administrative responsibilities.

The eligible list created as a result of this recruitment will be used to fill full-time and part-time regular, limited-term or extra-help positions as vacancies occur throughout the County.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Experience: Some professional level experience performing responsible patient evaluations and treatment of clients from diverse cultural and ethnic backgrounds.

Education/Training: A Medical Doctor or Doctor of Osteopathy; additional education or training in public health services, public administration and/or clinic management desirable.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Possession of a valid license to practice medicine in the State of California issued by the Board of Medical Examiners.

Possession of a valid certification by a specialty board recognized by the American Medical Association or the American Osteopathic Association.

Independent travel will be required

A Medical Degree (MD/DO), a valid license as a physician and surgeon issued by the state of California, AND possession of a valid certification by a specialty board recognized by the American Medical Association or the American Osteopathic Association are required for this position. All applicants are encouraged to submit either a copy of their college diploma (verifying the degree, date earned and area of specialization) or official/unofficial transcripts (verifying the date and degree conferred) by the final filing deadline. VETERAN'S PREFERENCE POINTS

To be eligible, applicant must have served at least 181 consecutive days of active duty in the Armed Forces of the United States and have received either an honorable discharge or a general discharge under honorable conditions. A COPY OF THE DD 214, SHOWING DISCHARGE TYPE (GENERALLY COPY 4), MUST BE RECEIVED IN THE HUMAN RESOURCES DEPARTMENT BY THE APPLICATION REVIEW DEADLINE.
