Position Summary

Position Summary:
Works collaboratively with the Medical Director of the Emergency Departments with a focus on managing quality performance and improvement activities. Supports administrative call and serves as one of the primary points of contact for clinician concerns, as well as reviews end-of-shift nurse reports to address patient/clinician care delivery issues. Partners with hospital administration and medical leadership to lead and oversee various clinical, quality, patient experience and medical administrative priorities within emergency medicine program.

Job Requirement

Education/Experience:
Graduation from an accredited school of medicine, residency trained and board certified in emergency medicine. Board Certified or Board Eligible (up to 3 years of eligibility) by the American Board of Emergency Medicine or the American Osteopathic Board of Emergency Medicine, obtained within five (5) years of postgraduate training. A minimum of five (5) years of experience as a practicing emergency medicine physician, three (3) years of which were in a leadership role.

Licensing/Certification Requirements:
Valid License by the State of Nevada to practice medicine. State of Nevada Pharmacy Board License to Prescribe Medications and DEA Controlled Substance Registration Certificate. Ability to be credentialed by various health insurance companies. Advance Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) or equivalent certification.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Physical Requirements

Knowledge of:
Adult and pediatric care, equipment, supplies and practices; federal, state, local and accreditation laws, regulations and standards; principles and practices of medical care management and administration; quality assurance and performance improvement principles and methods; administrative and human resources policies and procedures; department and hospital safety practices and procedures; patient rights; infection control policies and procedures; handling, storage, use and disposal of hazardous materials; department and hospital emergency response policies and procedures; age specific patient care practices.

Skill in:
Effective administration and management of medical functions; developing and monitoring capital and operating budgets; developing goals, objectives, policies and procedures; applying leadership techniques; making effective decisions under stress and emergency circumstances; developing programs; solving problems; communicating with a wide variety people from diverse socio-economic and ethnic backgrounds; establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with all personnel contacted in the course of duties; efficient, effective and safe use of equipment; using computers and related software applications.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
Mobility to work in a typical office setting and use standard equipment, stamina to remain seated and maintain concentration for extended periods of time; vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; hearing and speech to communicate effectively in-person and over the telephone. Strength and agility to exert up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
