Position Description
Performs highly skilled mechanical and/or analytical duties in the coordination and completion of projects. Work is performed under general guidelines using established procedures and evaluated on results obtained. May supervise skilled and semi-skilled subordinates.

Major/Essential Functions
Adopts and demonstrates our TTUHSC Values-Based Culture.
  • Assists Amarillo Unit Manager in providing safety, health, environmental, and emergency preparedness consultation to Amarillo campus stakeholders and assists in managing concerns related to emergency preparedness, environmental protection, fire and life safety, laboratory safety, occupational safety, radiation protection, and safety education and training programs through relationship building.
  • Assists Amarillo Unit Manager in periodic review of current applicable laws, rules, regulations, policies and guidelines relating to biological safety, chemical safety, COOP, emergency preparedness, fire and life safety, laboratory safety, occupational safety, and radiation safety.
  • Assists Emergency Management and Preparedness liaison for the Amarillo campus with the execution of development, implementation, training, and review of local Emergency Management and Emergency Action Plans and COOP.
  • Assists Amarillo Unit Manager with safety program inspections, audits, and surveys. Using effective communication methods to prepare corrective action and preventive measure reports and to assist with safety training for students, faculty, staff, and other campus stakeholders.
  • Demonstrate professionalism when investigating or assisting in an investigation of reported incidents or hazards.
  • Must have and maintain a valid State of Texas driver's License and be listed as an approved driver as determined by the TTUS Office of Risk Management and institutional auto insurance carrier. Must be able to pass the employee Criminal Background Check.


Required Qualifications
High school or equivalent and five years experience. Additional job-related education may substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis. Ability to climb a ladder and lift up to 50 pounds.
