Compensation and Benefits

Anticipated Hiring Salary Range: $16,666 - $18,750 per month

Full CSU Classification Salary Range: $9,625 - $30,896 per month

Salary is competitive and negotiable depending on the strength of qualifications. This is a CSU Management Personnel Plan (MPP) position.

The CSU system provides a comprehensive benefit package that includes medical, dental and vision plans, membership in the California Public Employees Retirement System (CalPERS), sick and vacation time, and 15 paid holidays a year. Job Summary

Reporting to the provost and vice president for academic affairs, the dean serves as the chief administrative and academic officer for the College of Health and Human Services. The dean will articulate and advance a shared vision for the college that promotes interprofessional and interdisciplinary collaborations along with a culture of innovation and service to the community, all of which are rooted in advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion. Additionally, the dean is responsible for leadership of the college’s student success efforts, accreditation, academic program planning, assessment of curriculum and instruction, recruitment and evaluation of faculty and staff, professional development and research support, and budgeting and fiscal management. The dean also represents the college and university in collaborating with all community, corporate, and professional organizations and agencies in areas of health and human services. The next dean will be expected to develop resources from internal and external connections that further the goals of the college and university. The dean will engage the faculty in developing innovative programs that build and integrate multiple strengths within the college while simultaneously partnering with the communities in the Central California region to address the critical issues in the health and human service environment that require consecutive generations of well-prepared health and human service professionals.

Education and Experience

The successful candidate will have a terminal degree in a health science or human services discipline or its equivalent, along with a demonstrated record of teaching, research, service, and/or experience meriting appointment as a tenured full professor in the college. The dean must exhibit solid management skills, effectiveness in resource acquisition and allocation, ability to build partnerships within the university and throughout the community, demonstrated experience with accreditation processes, and a clear understanding of regional, state, and national trends in health and human services as well as higher education.

Department Summary

The College of Health and Human Services (CHHS) at Fresno State offers a variety of undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral programs which provide students with transformative academic experiences, and opportunities to apply academic theory to professional practice. The college is home to seven academic departments including Communicative Sciences and Deaf Studies, Kinesiology, Physical Therapy, Public Health, Recreation Administration, School of Nursing, and Social Work Education. The college plays a unique and critical role in educating health and human services professionals of the San Joaquin Valley. CHHS provides an especially important leadership role in community services through participation of its faculty in organizations, boards, and a variety of agencies and by conducting workshops, symposia, in-service education, and applied research.
