The Position

Certified Nursing Assistants perform basic restorative services and basic nursing services related to the safety, comfort, personal hygiene, basic mental health and protection of patient rights.

The Nevada Department of Veterans Services, Southern Nevada State Veterans Home (SNSVH) is recruiting for Certified Nursing Assistant 3 positions, Lead Certified Nursing Assistant. The position is geographically located in Boulder City, Nevada.

Incumbents provide orientation to new Certified Nursing Assistant's (CNA) as well as Nursing Assistant Trainees (NAT), familiarize staff with direct-care protocols, demonstrate how to implement specific treatment procedures, report observations made during work shift to a charge nurse, assist with work scheduling, provide input on performance evaluations of lower level CNA's and NAT's, and act as a liaison between CNA's/NAT's and the charge nurse or nurse manager. The Lead CNA may be assigned other duties by the Nurse Manager or Charge Nurse that may include audits, orienting agency CNAs and documentation. Positions may be assigned to "float" to all neighborhoods in order to assess current practices and instruct lower level CNA's and NAT's on established protocols. The position requires knowledge of policies/procedures of the organization, strong interpersonal written and verbal communication skills, able to handle multiple tasks with competing priorities, deadline oriented, and the ability to orient CNA's and NAT's. To Qualify:

In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications) Certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant by the Nevada State Board of Nursing and 18 months of experience performing work as a Certified Nursing Assistant in an institutional setting; OR 18 months as a Certified Nursing Assistant II in Nevada State service. Special Requirements Some positions require current CPR certification at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment. Certification as a Nursing Assistant by the Nevada State Board of Nursing is required at the time of application and as a condition of continuing employment for the Certified Nursing Assistant I, II and III. The Examination Application Evaluation Exam The exam will consist of an application evaluation.
