Job Description Summary:

The Communications Coordinator is responsible for carrying out a robust and equity-focused public relations and marketing strategy for the Jeffco Clerk & Recorder’s office. They will assist managers with developing and implementing high quality, innovative communication and public education campaigns that make government and the democratic process work for all of Jeffco. With direction and support from leadership, they will be responsible for the department’s graphic design and website management, and have a key role in social media, community events, newsletters, advertising, and other public outreach.

They will interface with a broad cross-section of Jefferson County’s populace and leaders, and will be a champion for customer service excellence, government transparency, accessibility, and modernization. With the leadership team, they will plan, design, implement, and evaluate strategies, projects, and campaigns to further the goals of the Clerk & Recorder’s divisions, including Elections, Motor Vehicles, Records and Licensing, and other service areas. The Communications Coordinator will also participate in special projects as assigned by their supervisor, based on the evolving needs of Jefferson County

Schedule :

This full-time, standard position operates on a mostly standard work week, but with some need for evening and weekend work, to be discussed with the supervisor. This is a hybrid position that is mostly in-office with some opportunity for remote work available.

Salary:

Anticipated Hiring Range: $26-$32 USD hourly , which is equivalent to $ 55- $ 6 6k annually.

Compensation will be determined based on education, experience, and skills. Additional compensation for Spanish bilingual skills is available.

Essential Duties:

  • Consult with leadership and staff to plan, design, implement, and evaluate communication strategies, projects, and campaigns.
  • Prepare, write, design, and disseminate a variety of internal and external communications as directed or requested , including news releases, web pages, newsletters, social media posts, reports, announcements, posters, and other publications. Write materials in a clear and engaging fashion, utilizing concise journalistic style.
  • Create visually-appealing , informative content that elevates the county and Clerk and Recorder’s office brand identity.
  • Assist with the development and maintenance of internet and intranet web sites and social media pages. Participate in continuing education/training in web development and communications technology.
  • Support community outreach and events, including some evening and weekend events, that foster relationship building, education, engagement.
  • Establish and develop strong relationships and alliances with government, education, corporate, nonprofit entities, community leaders, Jefferson County residents, and other key stakeholders.
  • Maintain contact information and lists, keep organized records, and build an asset database, templates, and other supportive materials for the larger Clerk and Recorder team.
  • Respond to a variety of inquiries on the telephone, in person and by letter/email in a timely manner providing information and directing questions to appropriate staff to promote good public relations and create cooperative working relationships
  • Reduce and eliminate barriers to participation for culturally and economically diverse communities.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Minimal Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Three year s of related work experience in communications, marketing, or other public relations activities.


Preferred Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Five years of experience in communications, Marketing, or Public Relations
  • Excellent Customer Service skills
  • Advanced graphic design skills
  • Experience within a county clerk office , especially elections
  • Written and Verbal Spanish Fluency
  • Familiarity with the CivicPlus website platform
