    The Position: Assistant Tenure-Track Professor

    Position Starts: Fall 2025

    Salary: Salary commensurate with education and experience. (Anticipated hiring range: $74,652 - $89,772 per year).

    Minimum Qualifications:

    The minimum education requirement for appointment to this position is a doctorate degree from a COAMFTE accredited Marriage & Family Therapy Program or an accredited Counseling or Clinical Psychology program. Candidates nearing completion of the doctorate degree may be considered; however, all requirements for conferral of the degree must be met no later than the start date of the position. Requirements also include
    • CA licensure, or intention to obtain it, as a Marriage and Family Therapist, Psychologist, or Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor; Candidate must have achieved licensure by end of third year to continue employment.
    • Meeting, or intending to meet, CA Board of Behavioral Sciences MFT supervisor qualifications; CA Board of Behavioral Sciences MFT supervisor qualifications must have been met by end of third year for continued employment.
    • experience in undergraduate and/or graduate instruction;
    • a record of research and/or scholarly activities.

    Responsibilities:

    This tenure-track position carries responsibilities in the areas of teaching (primarily graduate courses and a potential for courses in the undergraduate program as the need arises; supervising graduate trainees), scholarship (develop a successful program of research or scholarly activity; seek external funding), and service (supporting the administrative and advising needs of the Marriage & Family Therapy program). This position will join a team of faculty and staff that coordinates the on-campus training clinic and off-campus traineeship program, with opportunities for developing program leadership. Both the university and the program value equity, diversity and inclusion and faculty will be expected to develop teaching practices that promote these values. Teaching assignments are based upon qualifications of the individual and the needs of the department.

    The Department:

    The Marriage & Family Therapy Program ( https://www.csuchico.edu/psy/academics/graduate/marriage-family.shtml ) is a three-year program that provides an integrated course of study that meets the educational requirements for the Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT) license as specified in California State law. Skill acquisition is emphasized by a strong core of introductory laboratory courses and on-campus practica in our Counseling Training Clinic ( https://www.csuchico.edu/psy/counseling-training-clinic.shtml ), culminating in an off-campus traineeship at a local agency. The MFT program is part of the Psychology Department ( https://www.csuchico.edu/psy ), which consists of 15 tenured/tenure-track faculty members, 24 lecturers, and two office staff members. The department has faculty in diverse areas of study, with a BA in Psychology, an MA with options in Psychological Science and School Psychology, and the MS in Marriage & Family Therapy. There are approximately 1000 majors, 100 minors, and 100 graduate students.
