  • Job Description

    OVERVIEW

    DCD is seeking an Extra-Help Office Support Assistant to assist with d ocument retention tasks.

    The role requires reviewing historical records to identify personally identifiable information (PII) for redaction, organizing archived files, and scanning documents in preparation for external publication . Additional responsibilities may include general clerical duties such as customer service, reception, data entry, filing, taking and delivering messages, preparing mailings, scanning, and photocopying. The position requires 30-40 hours of work per week .

    QUALIFICATIONS FOR PERFORMANCE OF THE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

    REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
    • High School Diploma or GED and 1 year of general office and/or customer services experience.
    PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
    • Experience using Adobe Acrobat, MS Excel, and SharePoint preferred.
    • Experience in document scanning and filing preferred.

    • The successful incumbent will or may have access to a secured/confidential facility or computer system(s). As a result, Kitsap County will be conducting an extensive criminal background check by law enforcement agencies, which may include fingerprinting.

    ILLUSTRATIVE EXAMPLE OF DUTIES

    In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

    Redaction / Exemption Review of Public Records:

    • Review sensitive or confidential materials, including email communications, attorney/client privileged information, personnel matters, and code compliance issues.


    • Redact records to ensure compliance with the Public Records Act.
    Administrative Support:

    • Enter records and prepare various administrative documents, including forms, memos, reports, letters, and written or electronic correspondence.


    • Obtain and compile information for reports or administrative use, working with guidance on the nature and purpose of the requested information.


    • Perform a variety of record , file , and data searches using both electronic and physical databases.


    • Store and organize records in compliance with established procedures and retention schedules, under the direction of the Records Manager.
