Department of Public Works is recruiting for
Public Works Operations Superintendents. This position has the responsibility to direct, through subordinate supervisors, the scheduling, dispatching, maintenance, repair, construction and operation of landfills, roads and flood control facilities. The incumbent will have significant managerial responsibility for planning, budgeting and scheduling the material, equipment and personnel needed for such operations. In addition, this position requires responding to complaints and claims related to road and drainage maintenance issues, and coordination with other County Departments, outsides agencies, and sometimes State and Federal agencies.
Key responsibilities include:- Planning, budgeting, and scheduling materials, equipment, and personnel for public works operations.
- Responding to public complaints and claims related to road and drainage maintenance.
- Coordinating with other County departments, outside agencies, and State or Federal agencies as needed.
- Overseeing the acquisition, assignment, maintenance, and repair of maintenance and construction equipment.
- Managing equipment inventory and evaluating needs for replacements or additions.
- Developing equipment specifications and assisting with procurement processes.
- Directing field repairs and implementing preventive maintenance programs.
- Coordinating facility repairs and improvements for maintenance yards and related infrastructure.
- Arranging equipment rentals during peak demand or in the event of breakdowns.
- Ensuring compliance with safety standards and overseeing equipment testing and certification.

Operations Division where the incumbent will be responsible for overseeing the Equipment/Operations Support section of the DPW Operations and other DPW Operations Yards as necessary.

Physical: Physical demands include frequent sitting, standing; occasional walking, bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, twisting, crawling, turning, balancing; requires power and precision grasping. Minimum RequirementsExperience: Four (4) years of experience in the management of light, medium, and heavy maintenance and construction equipment which includes scheduling repairs and preventive maintenance program management.
