    The Position

    Budget Analysts prepare and implement budgets including the development of expenditure projections, narrative justification of programs, and detailed biennial spending plans; review and analyze budget requests and adjustments; and ensure compliance with budgetary directives, policies, regulations and limitations.

    The Nevada Department of Corrections is now hiring for a Budget Analyst 3 in Carson City supporting Fiscal Services. The incumbent will be responsible for preparing and overseeing budgets alongside the fiscal team; ensuring they align with policies, regulations, and financial limitations. The incumbent will also monitor budget performance, review reports, conduct financial analyses, and recommend adjustments as needed; present budget findings; analyze legislative proposals; advise on resource allocation; design and maintain financial reports; assess funding availability; and support internal control procedures.

    To Qualify:

    In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
    Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications) Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in business or public administration, accounting, finance, economics, or closely related field and four years of professional budgeting, accounting, economic or management analysis and projection, staff analyst or auditing experience, one year of which was equivalent to a Budget Analyst II in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above. Special Requirements This position requires a State of Nevada/FBI background check, at the cost of the applicant. The Examination Application Evaluation Exam The exam will consist of an application evaluation. It is essential that applications include detailed information with time frames regarding education and experience. The most qualified applicants will be contacted by the hiring agency for interview.     Today, Nevada is the nation's seventh largest state in land area. Several hundred mountain ranges cross its landscape, many with elevations over 10,000 feet. In contrast, the State's lowest point (along the Colorado River) is only 470 feet above sea level. From majestic mountains to desert valleys, nature has endowed Nevada with diverse and unique ecosystems.
