About the Position:
The Division of Information Technology strives to be a strategic, innovative and best-in-class IT organization that provides a leading-edge technology environment for students, faculty, and staff to advance the University’s mission, vision and goals. We are seeking an exceptional individual to join our IT-Information Security team as the Information Security Analyst (Information Technology Consultant - Foundation). Under the direction of the Associate Information Security Officer, the Information Security Analyst is responsible for assisting Senior Information Security Analysts in support of campus information security program initiatives. Assist with information security policy development and maintenance, awareness and training activities. Development and security assessment of IT architecture, security risk assessments and management including third party products, documentation and/or investigations, security tools administration and use, review and suggest of change requests related to security controls, and coordination with other campuses and the Chancellor's Office.
Familiar with moderately complex security issues, including digital forensics, vulnerability management, risk and security assessments, security operations, log analysis, configuration management, incident response, litigation holds, and inventory management. The Information Security Analyst helps to promote information security efforts to develop campus-wide security projects to reduce risk, develop Information Technology operational and technical controls, and promote information security policy and compliance to improve IT security posture. The Analyst also assists and processes ISO litigation holds and imaging the computer. Other duties as assigned.
Essential Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Information Systems, Telecommunications, Engineering, Engineering Technology or a related field or four years relevant full-time experience or an associate’s degree in a related field with two years of relevant full-time experience.
Basic knowledge of the specialty work area demonstrated by an understanding and use of general principles and terminology. Demonstrated understanding of the standard technology and systems in place with the capability of supporting and operating the technology. Ability to recognize problems, identify possible causes, and refer to appropriate party for resolution. Ability to solve problems where precedents exist and acquire knowledge in related specialties. Demonstrated ability to work as a team member. Ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing.
A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily and is required for employment. CSU will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to complete the background check satisfactorily may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position.
Preferred Qualifications
Minimum two years of progressive experience in computing and information security, including experience with network security, system/server security, cloud services or security controls, Cyber Security Risk Management: digital forensics and litigation holds.
Understanding of security penetration testing and web application vulnerability assessments. Familiarity with Vulnerability Management tools such as Qualys, OpenVAS, and Nessus. Experience with common network security and principles for traffic and data analysis. Understanding of Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) networking, Open Systems Interconnection (OSI) model, network architecture, systems, and network equipment. Knowledge of threat and abuse detection, investigation, and analysis methods and experience with Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) tools. Knowledge of Linux and Windows operating systems. Also, understands the litigation hold processes to process the litigation hold with imaging tools.
