Full-time position available with the Water Department, Water Supply-Treatment Division, located at 1 NW Briarcliff Rd.
Salary Range: $29.92-$44.97/hour
Normal Work Days/Hours: Tuesday-Friday 6:30 a.m.-5:00 p.m.

Responsibilities
- Work involves responsibility for supervising and participating in a wide variety of maintenance and repair activities. Work requires considerable familiarity with practices in the building maintenance and mechanical trades.
- Manages the performance of a team of mechanics and building maintenance workers assigned to their shift by assigning daily work tasks and ensures daily logbooks and other records are completed.
- Handles projects, day-to-day coaching, and conducts training as needed.
- Schedules and supervises the work of a moderate sized maintenance crew at a city water plant and/or pump stations; inspects water plant and pump station equipment for needed repairs.
- Responds to repairs and unplanned breakdowns, including performing the repair and/or assisting the mechanics in repairs and maintenance as needed to ensure that plant & pumping operations are restored as quickly as possible.
- Responsible for all maintenance and repairs to all associated water treatment plant and pump station equipment.
- Procures all tools, materials, and equipment needed to complete repairs or provide maintenance.
- Must be able to read and interpret mechanical drawings and schematics and use them for troubleshooting.
- The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with the operation and maintenance of low-pressure steam boilers, chillers, air compressors, steam/condensate piping, and HVAC systems including hydraulics, pneumatics, plumbing, electrical, and welding.
- Assures our preventative maintenance program is being used and properly administered.
- Maintains compliance and documentation of all OSHA, HAZCOM, EPA, State, and City regulations.
- Excellent verbal and written communication and computer skills are required.
- Performs related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
REQUIRES high school graduation and 5 years experience in mechanical and trades maintenance and repair with 1 year experience at the level of Maintenance Mechanic. Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and post-offer physical examination as prescribed by the City.

If appointed, non-residents must obtain residency inside Kansas City, Missouri's city limits within nine months.
