    Requirements

    MOS Codes: H33A (Navy), 0630 (Marine Corps), 25H (Army)

    Education and Experience : Associate’s Degree or higher in Telecommunications Management, Electrical Engineering, or a related field; or a High School Diploma or GED and two (2) years of radio network and equipment experience.

    Licenses and Certificates : Valid Texas Class "C" Driver's License or equivalent issued by another state by time of appointment.

    Special Requirements : Applicants for positions assigned to the Department of Information Technology Services must pass a Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) fingerprint-based background check within the first six months from hire and maintain CJIS eligibility. CJIS requirements are related to system access and the following list of convictions and/or deferred adjudications will result in failure of the CJIS background check and disqualification or termination of employment: Felony Convictions, Felony Deferred Adjudication, Class A or B Misdemeanor Deferred Adjudication, Class A or B Misdemeanor Convictions, and open arrest warrants for any criminal offense (Felony or Misdemeanor), and family violence convictions.

    General Purpose

    Under general supervision, provide basic support for public safety analog and digital radio systems.

    Typical Duties

    In coordination with the City’s Department of Information Technology Services (DoITS), install, monitor, and maintain all public safety and city-wide radio systems and equipment. Install and maintain DC and AC power distribution systems for vehicles and radio equipment locations. Repair, create, and program portable and mobile radio equipment for both public safety and city-wide users. Assist with the installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of end-user mobile and portable hardware, software, and peripheral devices. Be able to work with flexible hours and weekends upon request. Adhere to DoITS and cybersecurity policies and procedures.
