    Job Summary

    Salary: $15.00

    Position Description: This position is the Administrative Assistant to support the Horticulture Manager and departmental team by providing administrative, clerical, and organizational support. This role is essential in maintaining the smooth operation of horticultural records, work orders, communications, and departmental logistics at Harry P. Leu Gardens.

    Responsibilities: Assist with scheduling, filing, and maintaining horticultural records, including plant inventories, maintenance logs, and staff assignments. Manage departmental communications, including responding to internal inquiries, coordinating meetings, and preparing reports or documentation. Support the work order system by entering and tracking maintenance requests and project updates. Assist with inventory tracking and ordering of supplies, tools, and equipment. Help coordinate volunteer and seasonal staffing schedules in collaboration with the Horticulture Manager. Maintain digital and physical records in accordance with City of Orlando standards. Provide general clerical support including data entry, document formatting, photocopying, and file organization. Support special projects and horticultural events as needed.

    Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent required; additional coursework in office administration, horticulture, or a related field preferred. At least one (1) year of experience in an administrative support role , preferably in a horticulture, nonprofit, or public sector environment. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and comfort using digital filing and work order systems. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to work independently and handle multiple tasks in a dynamic setting. Professional communication and interpersonal skills. Interest in plants, gardens, or environmental work a plus. Office-based with occasional visits to garden areas. Must be comfortable working in a garden setting and collaborating with horticulture staff and volunteers. Flexibility in schedule preferred to support varying department needs.

    THIS IS A PART_TIME_POSITION WITH NO GUARANTEE OF A CERTAIN NUMBER OF HOURS AND NO BENEFITS. THIS POSITION INVOLVES WORKING ON A TEMP/SEASONAL CONTRACT WHICH CAN BE RENEWED ANNUALLY BASED ON PERFORMANCE AND BUSINESS NEEED.

    If this posting indicates a degree is required, the following experience will apply in lieu of any degree as follows:
    • Two (2) years of direct experience for an associate degree;
    • Four (4) years of direct experience for a bachelor's degree;
    • Six (6) years of direct experience for a master's degree; or
    • Nine (9) years of direct experience for a doctoral degree.
