    Pay Range: $21.26/hr. - $26.57/hr. | $44,219 - $55,273 annual compensation

    An Administrative Technician position is available with the City of Fort Worth Police Department’s Sex Offender Registration & Tracking Unit. This position will be an integral team member and provide routine clerical and administrative support to the unit's daily operations. The position performs a variety of routine fiscal and administrative tasks for staff and management personnel in the assigned area of responsibility. It will be under the direction and supervision of the Sex Offender Registration & Tracking supervisor.

    Minimum Qualifications:
    • Associate Degree from an accredited college with major course work in Business, Business Administration, Finance, Public Administration, Office Administration, or related field.
    • Two (2) years of responsible clerical and administrative experience.

    Preferred Qualifications:
    • Fundamental principles and procedures of record keeping.
    • Policies and procedures of department.
    • Microsoft Office Suite.

    The Administrative Technician job responsibilities include:
    • Provides administrative assistance to staff by preparing documents, scheduling appointments, meetings, and screening clients and phone calls.
    • Prepares travel documents, employee travel reimbursement requests, secures hotels, vehicles, and conference registrations.
    • Provides service to internal and external customers by answering inquiries and directing callers to the appropriate department or personnel.
    • Provides administrative support by verifying costs for various budget items, gathering data, and entering data into City systems for the annual budget. Ensuring financial/budget practices adhere to the department budget and budget guidelines.
    • Receives and applies payments and fees. Compiles fiscal, statistical, and related program reports. Calculates financial data, balances books, updates accounts, and provides program expenditures and available balances. Updates and input records and documents and maintains files.
    • Processes requisitions and purchases materials and supplies to maintain inventory. Prepares bid information and coordinates with staff for purchasing. Works with various vendors regarding quotes, billing issues, credits, and invoices. Receives materials or supplies.
    • Case file maintenance, scanning, packing, recording, and transferring case files to PRMC (records).
    • Categorize and box the unit documents for destruction and coordinate with PRMC for record destruction.
    • Adheres to assigned work schedule as outlined in the Department and City attendance policies and procedures; ensures all behaviors comply with the City’s Personnel Rules and Regulations.
    • Maintaining proficiency with the unit’s required computer operating systems.
    • Performs duties as listed in the unit Standard Operating Procedures or as requested.

    Working Conditions

    Depending on the assignment, positions in this class typically require touching, talking, hearing, seeing, grasping, standing, walking, and repetitive motions.

    Applicants for this position must pass a Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) fingerprint-based background check and maintain CJIS eligibility. Due to CJIS requirements related to system access, the following will result in being disqualified for this position: Felony Convictions, Felony Deferred Adjudication, Class A Misdemeanor Conviction, Class B Misdemeanor Convictions in the last 10 years, Class A Misdemeanor Deferred Adjudication, Class B Misdemeanor Deferred Adjudication in the last 10 years, an Open Arrest for Any Criminal Offense (Felony or Misdemeanor), and ALL Family Violence Convictions regardless of class. Final candidates selected for hire in the Police Department will be subject to fingerprint/criminal history background check and polygraph examination. Applicants must not have used marijuana during the previous two (2) years, nor illegally used any controlled substances within the last five (5) years.

    Physical Demands

    Sedentary Work - Depending on the assignment, positions in this class typically exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, a negligible amount of force frequently, and/or constantly having to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects. Sedentary work

    involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.

    Medical Program

    Vacation

    Wellness Program

    The city’s Healthy Challenge Wellness Program rewards all full-time, benefit-eligible employees on the city’s health insurance. The Healthy Challenge Program utilizes a points system. Participants may earn points throughout the year (Jan. 1-Dec. 15) for completing specific program activities and participants can redeem points at the end of the year for a cash reward.
