    A Field Operations Crewleader position is available with the City of Fort Worth Transportation and Public Works Stormwater Concrete Program. The City of Fort Worth has approximately 1,000 miles of storm pipe and over 30,000 structures. This infrastructure conveys storm water from neighborhoods and developed areas to the nearest creek or river. Maintaining this infrastructure at their design capacity is essential in reducing the flood and void risk to citizens and businesses. Functions within the stormwater concrete program include pipe and structure maintenance, concrete lined channel maintenance and pipe installation. Here’s a look at what we do!

    Minimum Qualifications:
    • High School Diploma or GED.
    • Two years of responsible experience in field construction, maintenance, repair or operational activities related to transportation/public works streets/stormwater.
    • Maintain Class A Driver’s License with a Tank Endorsement Required; Operations of a hydro-mulch vehicle, water truck, and/or vactor as required.
    • Must pass Drug Screen and Physical.

    Preferred Qualifications:
    • Performs skilled and semi-skilled tasks related to completion of assigned jobs, such as operating a concrete truck, setting forms, pouring concrete, pipe installation, repairing drainage pipe, drainage structure installations, concrete lined channel work, working with and around heavy equipment, drainage structure repairs, and confined space
    • Supervisory experience.
    • Experience writing employee performance appraisals.
    • Work zone setup and job site safety.
    • Basic computer skills, i.e. Microsoft Office and VueWorks.
    • Knowledge of the Texas Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices.
    • Concrete setup and finishing.
    • Confined space experience.

    The Field Operations Crewleader job responsibilities include:
    • Responsible for monitoring the quality, responsiveness, efficiency and effectiveness regarding general field operations to include construction, maintenance and repair activities which may include water utilities, parks and community services, transportation/public works, city services and other related services.
    • Identifies resources needed. Reviews needs with appropriate management staff and allocates resources accordingly.
    • Performs technical and complex tasks of the work unit including inspecting field operations equipment and recommending needed repairs.
    • Participates in personnel training and works with subordinate personnel to correct deficiencies. Implement discipline procedures.
    • Candidate must have flexible working hours; capable of working four (4) ten hour shifts. This position is a first responder in severe weather conditions/emergencies which requires working overtime and/or compensatory time. This position consists of equipment operations and manual labor duties as they relate to concrete maintenance operations.
    • Excavation and General Construction Safety.
    • Prioritize scheduled and emergency work including after hours on-call.
    • Provide direction and job assignments to work crews and assist in scheduling construction, maintenance, and repair services in addition to overseeing work progression and making adjustments as needed.
    • Assist in responding and resolving public and/or inquiries and complaints. Confers with internal and external customers regarding problems and provide assistance as necessary.
    • Make entry into confined spaces as needed.

    Working Conditions and Physical Demand

    Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically require touching, talking, hearing, seeing, grasping, standing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, walking, repetitive motions, climbing, balancing, pushing, pulling and lifting; depending on assignment. Incumbents may be exposed to moving mechanical parts, odors, dusts, poor ventilation, chemicals, oils, extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting, intense noises, gases, vibrations, chemicals, oils and workspace restrictions.

    Heavy Work - Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly having to move objects.

    Medical Program
