    Description:

    Jefferson County’s Fleet Services Division is looking for a Diesel Mechanic at our Evergreen maintenance facility.

    The Diesel Mechanic is responsible for diagnosing and repairing engines, transmissions, brakes, electrical, emissions, and hydraulic systems for both light and heavy-duty equipment, as well as performing preventive maintenance and repairs. Additionally, the mechanic keeps records of vehicle services and repairs, tracks replacement parts, and maintains inventory.

    SCHEDULE:

    This position operates on our four-day work week (Monday - Thursday; 6:00AM - 4:30 PM). This position is on site at the fleet maintenance facility in Evergreen, just 25 minutes west of the Denver Metro area.

    Please note that this position may require on-call availability outside of the expected work schedule as determined by business needs.

    COMPENSATION:

    Hiring Range: $29.00 - $30.50 USD Hourly

    Compensation will be determined based on education, experience, and skills.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

    The Diesel Mechanic is responsible for:

    Maintaining and repairing equipment, which may include:
    • Perform engine adjustments and repairs
    • Use factory and aftermarket software to diagnose drivability and other concerns.
    • Replace or rebuild needed parts.
    • Perform repairs on drivetrain, brake, steering, suspension, and other systems.
    • Diagnose and repair snow removal equipment.
    • Ensure equipment is operating efficiently.
    • Perform welding or machine work.
    • Ensure accurate documentation of customer complaints and concerns.


    Maintaining records of repair work and service by:
    • Inspecting mechanical equipment and parts.
    • Keeping accurate parts inventory.
    • Monitor and schedule preventive maintenance as required.
    • Recording accurate accounts of repairs made on equipment.



    QUALIFICATIONS:

    Minimum Qualifications:
    • 1 year of work-related experience as a mechanic.
    • High School diploma or GED.
    • Note an equivalent combination of education and experience is acceptable.


    Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
    • ASE Auto Mechanic Certification.
    • CDL at time of hire or within one year of hire.
