    ABOUT THE POSITION

    The Clark County Commission office is seeking qualified candidates to apply for the County Commission Analyst position. As a member of our team, you will provide office, secretarial and administrative support to the County Commission and staff. The ideal candidate will act as a liaison with the public, attendance at meetings and regular contact with government officials, organizations and the public.

    THIS RECRUITMENT IS LIMITED TO THE FIRST 250 APPLICATIONS RECEIVED AND WILL CLOSE WITHOUT NOTICE ONCE THAT NUMBER IS REACHED.

    This examination will establish an Open Competitive Eligibility list to fill current and/or future vacancies that may occur within the next six (6) months or may be extended as needed by Human Resources.

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

    Education and Experience: Equivalent to an Associate's Degree with major course work in business administration, management, communication, journalism, marketing, public administration, or a related field, AND three (3) years of full-time public administration, public communications, community relations, neighborhood services experience or experience providing administrative support to an elected official. Experience in dealing with elected officials and/or in a public agency setting is desirable. Possession of a four-year college degree is desirable. Professional level experience and/or education that has provided the skills and knowledge necessary to perform all job functions at this level may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.

    All qualifying education and each experience must be clearly documented in the “Education” and “Work Experience” sections of the application.     NOTE: Specific positions may require typing skills of 55 wpm; may require skill in taking dictation at a rate of 80 words per minute by hand or stenographic machine and transcribing it accurately.

    Working Conditions: Attend meetings or events outside of normal working hours.

    Licensing and Certification: Specified positions may require possession of a valid Nevada Class C Driver's License at time of appointment.

    Background Investigation: Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a background investigation. Periodically after employment background investigations may be conducted.

    Citizenship: Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Please note, Clark County does not provide H1B visa sponsorships or transfers for any employment positions.

    Pre-Employment Drug Testing: Employment is contingent upon the results of a pre-employment drug examination.

    EXAMPLES OF DUTIES

    • Represents the individual Commissioner and Board of Commissioners, acts as a liaison with the public, addresses citizen concerns, and ensures timely responses from County departments or agencies.
    • Maintains a detailed calendar of events, meetings, and activities requiring the Commissioner's attendance, providing necessary information and materials.
    • Responds to visitor interactions, phone calls, and complaints, utilizing independent judgment and policy interpretation.
    • Analyzes alternatives and makes recommendations regarding such matters as team and quality improvement, staffing, facilities, productivity and policy and procedure implementation.
    • Researches and compiles informational materials, contacting various County departments for information.
    • Organizes events and creates marketing materials to inform the public about County programs and priorities.
    • Manages administrative tasks such as project follow-up, representing the Commissioner at meetings, and providing information.
    • Ensures the Commissioner receives agenda materials and supporting documentation for Commission meetings.
    • Follows up with County departments to address issues and concerns.
    • Prepares documents, reports, and correspondence independently, reviewing for accuracy and compliance.
    • Organizes and maintains administrative files, setting priorities, and meeting deadlines.
    • Coordinates communication between citizens, County departments, and others, attending meetings, and addressing inquiries.
    • Tracks calls, correspondence, and online inquiries, forwarding them for resolution and following up on concerns.
    • Plans and coordinates community services and education programs, writes newsletters and articles.
    • Develops engagement programs such as town halls and forums, maintaining accurate records.
    • Prepares reports, memos, and written materials, using standard office equipment including a computer.
    • Contributes to the efficiency and effectiveness of the unit's service to its customers by offering suggestions and directing or participating as an active member of a work team.
    • Follows-up on a variety of office administrative matters.
    • May provide supervision, training and review of work of office support staff.
    • May drive a personal, County or agency motor vehicle in order to attend meetings.


    PHYSICAL DEMANDS

    Mobility to work in a typical office setting and use standard office equipment, vision to read printed materials and a computer screen, and hearing and speech to communicate in person or over the telephone.
