    We are currently seeking to fill one (1) Fire District Program and Projects Coordinator vacancy within the Fire Protection District.

    The incumbent will design, develop and implement strategic outreach and recruitment programs, as well as research hiring best practices and outreach methods to market ConFire as an employer of choice. This role works collaboratively with suppression personnel in the Outreach Team.

    What you will typically be responsible for: (Recruitment & Outreach)
    • Collaborating with the Suppression Outreach Program Director.
    • Helping to create comprehensive recruitment strategies including advertising plans, outreach, and tracking.
    • Researching and implementing best practices for recruitment programs.
    • Designing, developing, and implementing innovative outreach programs using diversity and inclusion best practices, in support of ConFire’s operational needs.
    • Building pipelines of qualified candidates and fostering strong candidate relationships in person, via telephone, email, and social media.
    • Attending recruitment events with the Outreach Team and representing ConFire within the community.
    • Tracking metrics and providing data and reports on a regular basis; monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of programs.

    Minimum Qualifications

    License Required: Possession of a valid California Motor Vehicle Operator’s License may be required based on assignment. If applicable, out of State valid Motor Vehicle Operator’s License will be accepted during the application process.

    Education: Possession of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major closely aligned to the program area or assignment.

    Experience: Five (5) years of full-time (or its equivalent) experience in program or project management with operational responsibility for timeline, budget and scope; which must have included one (1) year of lead or supervisory experience.

    Substitution for Education: Additional qualifying experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis up to a maximum of two (2) years. No substitution may be allowed for the required lead or supervisory experience.

    Desirable Qualifications:
    • Experience recruiting for Fire Service, EMS or other public safety positions.
    • Strong public speaking skills and confidence presenting to diverse audiences.
    • Talented at graphic design and/or visual content creation; and managing outreach campaigns, including social media, printed materials for Fire Services, EMS, or other similar public safety positions.
    • Prior experience working within a public safety department and/or familiarity within a military/paramilitary working environment.
    • Strong collaboration skills working with sworn personnel, community partners, and/or educational institutions.


    Selection Process

    Application Filing & Evaluation: All applicants must apply on-line at www.cccounty.us/hr and submit the information indicated on the job announcement and supplemental questionnaire by the final filing date. Depending on the number of applications received, an oral board may be convened to evaluate and select the best-qualified candidates for invitation to the next phase of the recruitment.

    Assessment Type: The assessment type and process will depend on the number of qualified candidates and may include an online multiple-choice assessment and/or a virtual oral examination. Candidates who meet the minimum qualifications and advance to the assessment phase may be invited to participate in an online Multiple-Choice Assessment designed to evaluate key competencies relevant to the Program and Projects Coordinator classification. These competencies may include, but are not limited to: Delivering Results, Using Technology, Taking Initiative, Attention to Detail, Project Management, Oral Communication, and Critical Thinking. Candidates must obtain a minimum passing score of 70% in each competency area and an overall average score of 70% or higher to continue in the process. (Weighted 100%).
    • The assessment will be administered remotely using a computer. You will need access to a reliable internet connection to take the assessment.
    • This assessment is tentatively scheduled to take place: July 2025.
    • Further details regarding the assessment format and scheduling will be provided to eligible candidates as the recruitment progresses.
