The PositionBargaining Unit: Local 21 - Supervisory Management The Contra Costa County Public Works Department - Facilities Division is offering an excellent employment opportunity to fill the vacant Assistant Facilities Maintenance Manager position, located in Martinez, CA. Under general direction, this position assists the Public Works Facilities Superintendent in the management and administration of the Facilities Maintenance Division; provides management of building and preventative maintenance for buildings throughout the County.
The Contra Costa County Public Works Department (CCCPWD) is responsible for the maintenance and operation of over 650 miles of roads, 79 miles of streams and channels, and over 150 County buildings. CCCPWD services include parks and recreation, sandbag distribution, flood control, road and facilities maintenance, and storm water management. CCCPWD operates two airports, Buchanan Field Airport in Concord, and Byron Airport in Byron. CCCPWD strives for continuous improvement to deliver cost effective, safe reliable and sustainable projects, programs, and quality services.

- Manage projects, conduct bids/contracts, review specifications, and conduct inspections
- Ensure overall County compliance with various regulatory agencies

Minimum QualificationsLicense Required: Possession of a valid California Motor Vehicle Operator's License. Out of State valid motor vehicle operator's license will be accepted during the application process.
Education: Possession of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Business Administration, Public Administration, Engineering or a closely related field.
Experience: Three (3) years of full-time, or its equivalent, journey-level experience in maintaining, repairing, or remodeling building systems, HVAC systems or electronic security systems, at least one (1) year of which was in a supervisory capacity.
Substitution for Education: Additional qualifying experience of the type noted above may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.
Other requirements: Applicants must be able to obtain the Detention Facility Clearance to work in the detention facilities.

In the Interview Assessment, candidates must achieve an average passing score of 70% or higher on each of the competencies, as well as an overall passing score of 70% or higher. These may include but are not limited to: Professional & Technical Expertise; Decision Making, Handling & Resolving Conflict, Coaching & Developing Others, Project Management, and Oral Communication.
