    DEPUTY CONTROLLER - FINANCIAL REPORTING

    The State Controller's Office is accepting applications for the position of Deputy
    Controller- Financial Reporting.

    Recruitment Open To:
    This is an open competitive recruitment, open to all qualified applicants.
    This position is appointed by and serves at the pleasure of the State Controller.
    This position reports to the Chief Deputy Controller.

    AGENCY RESPONSIBILITIES:
    The State Controller's Office (SCO) is responsible for state and federal fiscal (the ACFR and
    Single Audit Reports) reporting on behalf of the state of Nevada. Additional
    responsibilities include: state debt collection, information technology, vendor database
    services, and CORE.NV system administration.

    APPROXIMATE Annual Salary:
    Up to $151,902 (Employee/Employer Paid Retirement Plan) *Salary reflects Public
    Employees Retirement System (PERS) contributions by both the employee and the
    employer. An employer paid contribution plan is also available with a reduced gross
    salary.

    small amount of in-state travel and up to twice a year travel to National Association
    conferences.

    POSITION DESCRIPTION:
    The Deputy Controller - Financial Reporting performs a wide variety of administrative
    functions within the department. The primary task of this position is the annual
    completion of the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR), along with additional
    duties as detailed below.

    Under the direction of the Chief Deputy Controller, duties include:
    - Organizing, assigning funds and tasks, monitoring completion, reviewing and
    overseeing the completion of the ACFR, including working with the auditing
    team during their manager and partner review process. The end goal is the
    completion of an ACFR within 9 months after the end of the prior Fiscal Year.
    - Leading up to three direct reports, all Accountant 2 (ACFR) team members who
    will report to the chosen candidate, and who will supervise the balance of the
    team, including 6 Accountant 1 (ACFR), 1 Accountant 3, 1 Accountant 2, and 1
    Management Analyst 1.
    - Review the most complex funds for proper completion.
    - Spot review of work reviewed by the direct reports to ensure proper GAAP and
    GASB procedures are being adhered.
    - In coordination with identified members of the ACFR team and the Chief
    Deputy Controller, provide input to ensure SCO interests are communicated
    to the CORE.NV project, ensuring proper financial reporting and activity is
    working in concert between the SCO and CORE.NV to ensure the most
    accurate financial reporting possible.
    - Other duties as assigned by the Chief Deputy Controller and/or the State
    Controller.
    Minimum Qualifications:
    The most competitive applicants should have the following:
    - Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred but not a requirement based upon
    meeting experience levels detailed below.
    - Have a minimum of 5 years' experience in Governmental Accounting or
    Auditing of Governmental Accounting if the applicant holds a CPA.
    - Have a minimum of 10 years' experience in Governmental Accounting with a
    minimum of 3 years' experience working on a state ACFR team or auditing a
    state ACFR if the applicant does not have a CPA.
    - Have a minimum of 5 years' experience supervising a team. - Have a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or a related field. A Masters Degree
    is preferred, but not required.
    - Be a self-starter able to work under time pressures with a proven track record
    of getting results.
    - Able to work with minimal supervision.
    - Experience with CaseWare accounting software or comparable ACFR
    accounting software preferred.
