Job SummaryThe purpose of this position is to ensure compliance with water meter infrastructure installation standards to maintain accurate billing administration. Coordination of office and field operations is required to blend administrative expertise and hands-on fieldwork, including attending pre-construction meetings, inspecting meter sets, and managing unmetered water and fire hydrant meter services. The role involves close collaboration with office personnel, field teams, engineering, planning, water utilities operations, and building contractors to maintain efficiency and accuracy in water service operations. Additional responsibilities include support for other field service teams. This position requires strong organizational and communication skills, which are essential to the organization.
Essential Job Functions Field Operations & Inspections: - Attend pre-construction meetings to provide guidance on water meter installation requirements.
- Conduct meter set inspections to verify compliance with specifications for water taps and meter installations.
- Identify and report any discrepancies or issues with meter installations.
- Work closely with field personnel to troubleshoot and resolve meter-related concerns.
- Ensure proper documentation and reporting of field inspections and service requests.
- Install water meters as needed based on workload and service level requirements.
Collaboration & Coordination: - Liaise with engineering, planning, and water utilities operations teams to align field activities with water infrastructure specifications.
- Communicate effectively with building contractors to ensure adherence to water service standards.
- Provide technical support and guidance to office and field teams regarding billing and meter installations.
- Participate in cross-departmental meetings to improve processes and enhance service delivery.
Billing & Administrative Duties: - Oversee the setup and administration of unmetered water and fire hydrant meter services.
- Maintain detailed records of meter installations, inspections, and service requests.
- Assist customers and contractors with inquiries related to water service billing and meter installations.
- Coordinate with office personnel to ensure seamless integration of field data into billing systems.
Minimum Qualifications- Education: Training beyond high school. Could include some college hours, technical school, or correspondence course.
- Experience: 2-4 years of related experience
- Licenses: Valid Texas Driver's License required; Class C Water Distribution License, preferred.
