Special Districts Department, Big Bear Valley Recreation and Parks District is recruiting to fill vacancies for
Child Care Teacher (PSE)*to support theDistrict’s before and afterschool child care program. Child Care Teachers are responsible for creating a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment for school-aged children. Duties include supervising children, implementing age-appropriate activities that support learning and development, and maintaining positive communication with parents and guardians.
This position is located in the mountain area of
Big Bear, CA located approximately 1 hour/45 miles from downtown San Bernardino.
The
Special Districts Department works to promote the safety, health and enrichment of communities by providing essential municipal services along with diverse community-based programs in an efficient and sustainable manner. Special Districts covers a number of services areas, providing water and sanitation, television, parks and recreation, roads, streetlight, and other services, as well as conservation and land use assistance to unincorporated areas of the County.
The
Beyond the Bell childcare program represents a tremendous collaborative effort between the Big Bear Valley Recreation and Park District, Bear Valley Unified School District, and Soroptimist International of Big Bear Valley to provide safe, quality, affordable care to school aged valley residents. The program is available at Baldwin Lane Elementary School and North Shore Elementary School. The program includes before/after school care for children in grades kindergarten through six.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT Work Availability: Ability to work evenings, weekends, and public holidays.
License: Candidate must possess a valid California Class B driver license or be obtained within 90 days of employment. Proof of automobile liability insurance is required at time of hire and must be maintained throughout employment.
Certifications: Must possess and maintain a current CPR card and proof of completion of a First Aid course for adults and children.
Physical Requirements: Must be able to lift small children and other objects up to 45 lbs.
Pre-Employment Process: Job offers are contingent upon passing a background investigation including a fingerprint check and search of the Child Abuse Index before appointment. In addition, applicants must possess an official photo identification card and pass a pre-employment physical, including a tuberculosis test.
Sponsorship: San Bernardino County is unable to consider candidates who require Visa Sponsorship at this time or in the future. Candidates must be able to present their legal right to work in the United States at the time of employment.
Minimum Requirements Candidate must meet the following requirement to qualify: EXPERIENCE: One (1) year of full-time equivalent experience working in a classroom setting with children. Experience may include assisting in planning and leading educational or recreational activities, supporting classroom management, or providing direct supervision and care in a structured learning environment.
Note: Care of own children and non-licensed babysitting/childcare is not considered qualifying. Desired QualificationsThe ideal candidate will possess:
- 12 semester (18 quarter) units in Early Childhood Education (ECE). Candidates may provide a list of completed coursework or attach transcripts.
