    The Job

    The Project and Facilities Management Department is currently seeking qualified candidates for the position of Supervising Custodian. This role is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of custodial staff, including assigning tasks, providing hands-on assistance, conducting inspections, and ensuring high standards of cleanliness and safety.

    Key responsibilities include:
    • Preparing work schedules and coordinating third-party custodial contracts
    • Evaluating custodial performance and maintaining quality control
    • Training and onboarding new staff
    • Monitoring custodial activities to ensure compliance with department standards

    There is an immediate need to fill a regular Supervising Custodian position in Facilities Management. The eligible list may also be used to fill future vacancies throughout the County as they occur.

    CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

    Pre-Employment Process: Applicants selected for these positions must successfully pass a background investigation which includes fingerprinting and verification of employment history.

    Shift Availability: Applicants may be required to work a rotating shift.

    Minimum Requirements

    EXPERIENCE: Three (3) years of progressively responsible custodial experience, including supervisory responsibility for at least three (3) custodians, in environments such as schools, hospitals, office buildings, detention facilities, or large workshop settings.

    NOTE: Applicants must clearly describe qualifying custodial experience on the Work Experience section of their application.

    Desired Qualifications

    The ideal candidate will have strong leadership experience in custodial operations, with a proven track record of supervising custodial teams in high-use, service-oriented environments such as hospitals, schools, office buildings, or large workshop facilities.
