This position will direct and control the management of all logistics and inventory control activities, including inventory variance analysis, auditing, asset tracking and disposition of assets. Monitors and establishes the Standard Operating Procedures for logistics and inventory control business units. Directs the operation of the inventory management, including computer security and recovery capability, and Equipment Asset Management (EAM) system.

Examples of Duties- Directs and controls the management of all Logistics and Inventory Control activities, including inventory variance analysis, auditing, asset tracking, and disposition of assets
- Plans and monitors Logistics, Inventory Control, and inventory management activities
- Consults and advises management staff and the Board of Directors on inventory management activities and issues
- Monitors developments related to assigned areas of responsibility, evaluates their impact upon Metro operations, and recommends and implements policy and procedural improvements
- Represents Metro in meetings with representatives of governmental agencies and professional and business organizations
- Directs the operation of the inventory management systems, including computer security and recovery capability
- Supports the disposition of salvage and supply items to maximize return on investment, including inventory budget bus parts asset and capital asset inventories
- Develops and directs the implementation of goals, objectives, policies, procedures, work standards, and long- and short-range planning efforts for Logistics, Inventory Control, and inventory management
- Directs the preparation and administration of the division budget
- Assists in the development and modification of Metro's long- and short-range plans
- Confers with Metro management regarding Logistics, Inventory Control, and inventory management activities
- Ensures compliance with federal, state, and Metro rules, regulations, and policies
- Directs the preparation of a variety of periodic and special reports regarding assigned activities
- Monitors establishment of standardization of inventory items and product quality standards
- Supervises, trains, develops, and motivates assigned staff
- Communicates and implements safety rules, policies, and procedures in support of the agency's safety vision and goals; and maintains accountability for the safety performance of all assigned employees

Minimum QualificationsA combination of education and/or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the position. Additional experience, as outlined below, may be substituted for required education on a year-for-year basis. A typical combination includes:
Education- Bachelor's Degree in Business, Public Administration, or a related field; Master's Degree in Business, Public Administration, or a related field preferred
Experience- Five years of relevant management-level experience in large-scale inventory and materiel production interfacing programs; some positions in this class may require specialized experience in area of assignment
Certifications/Licenses/Special Requirements- A valid California Class C Driver License or the ability to utilize an alternative method of transportation when needed to carry out job-related essential functions
