Major Duties Under general supervision, the Laborer performs physical tasks such as moving objects, assisting in cleaning projects, supporting construction activities, maintaining landscaping, operating equipment, responding to emergencies, and ensuring safe handling of supplies.
- Moves and lifts heavy objects such as furniture, equipment and supplies; assists in event set-up.
- Cleans assigned areas including activities such as removing construction debris; cleaning gutters, culverts, and other drainage structures.
- Assists trades and construction workers by performing unskilled tasks such as preparing work areas.
- Assists in maintaining landscape including pruning, trimming, and removing debris.
- Responds to emergencies and operates emergency equipment.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Licenses: Valid California driver’s license.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities - Ability to read and write English at a level appropriate to the duties of the position; and follow verbal and written instructions to.
- Demonstrated capability to safely lift, move, and handle heavy furniture, equipment, and supplies (up to 50 pounds), and perform physically demanding tasks related to campus event setups.
- Knowledge of basic cleaning techniques including debris removal, gutter and drainage maintenance, mechanical equipment cleaning, and recycling practices.
- Ability to perform general labor support tasks such as preparing construction sites, executing basic repair duties, patching pavement, and handling pick and shovel work effectively.
- Skilled in basic landscape maintenance tasks including pruning, trimming, spraying shrubs and trees, removing undergrowth, and preparing grounds using manual tools such as spades, hoes, and rakes.
Pay, Benefits, & Work Schedule - The university offers an excellent benefits package, including but not limited to: medical, dental, vision, retirement & savings, tuition waiver and more.
- Classification: Laborer / 6223 / grade 1
- The anticipated HIRING RANGE: $3680 - $3890 per month, dependent upon qualifications and experience. The salary range for this classification is: $3680 - $5955 per month.
- HOURS: Full Time; 40 hours per week; Monday through Friday.
- This is a Regular position with a one-year probationary period.
