    BACKGROUND

    The Los Angeles City Fire Department has a transfer opportunity for one Administrative Clerk (1358). The Administrative Clerk (1358) position will be assigned to the Department’s Information Technology Bureau, Administrative Support Section.

    WORK SCHEDULE

    The Los Angeles City Fire Department offers 5/40 and 9/80 work schedules and has implemented a hybrid telecommuting program which allows some classifications a minimum of two (2) in-office work days per week, and on the remaining workdays, employees may telecommute, provided that the employee has passed their probationary period. The specific in-office days are flexible and will be coordinated with Executive Management. The hybrid telecommuting program is subject to change.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    Under the supervision of the Supervisor, the Class performs the following duties:

    - Receptionist for Bureau. Answer phone calls and retrieve messages. Assists visitors in person and callers over the telephone and refers them to the proper sources. Answers questions and requests.

    - Customer Service: process department wide requests for hand held radios, cellular devices and other communication devices including requests for upgrade.

    - Generate Purchase Orders.

    - Update the inventory of radio, toughpads, routers, cellular devices and other communication devices in the system.

    - Generate official correspondence for approval through the chain of command

    - Review, obtain approval, scan, file and submit communication bills to the Accounts Payable for payment processing

    - Sorting and distribution of incoming and outgoing mail.

    - Provide backup to the Secretary, and

    - Other duties as assigned

    REQUIREMENTS

    Current status as an Administrative Clerk (1358).
