    The Position

    Child Care Workers assist in preschool programs designed for care of children and for stimulation of their social, emotional, academic, and physical development.

    Incumbents perform in a trainee capacity and acquire the knowledge, skills and abilities required in this occupation.

    The Division of Child and Family Services (DCFS) is seeking to fill a Child Care Worker 1. This is a full-time position located in Henderson within the Early Childhood Mental Health Services Day Treatment Program. The Child Care Worker plays a key role in supporting young children, ages 3 to 6, who are also receiving family therapy services. Key responsibilities are establishing and maintaining a safe, connected, and predictable environment while traveling with children and adults, both indoors and outdoors. The Child Care Worker will also support day treatment classroom activities; interacting with staff and children to promote a peaceable classroom community; build appropriate relationships with children and adults; learn appropriate ways to support and attend to the children's social/emotional and developmental needs; learn techniques to utilize with the children in the classroom and on the transportation route; and support Day Treatment Staff in classroom activities by preparing previously approved curriculum materials. The Child Care Worker will complete required paperwork within established guidelines.     To Qualify:

    In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
    Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications) Graduation from high school or equivalent and one year of experience working with small children in a preschool setting; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above. Special Requirements A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items. A valid drivers license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment. The Examination Application Evaluation Exam The exam will consist of an application evaluation. It is essential that applications include detailed information with time frames regarding education and experience. The most qualified applicants will be contacted by the hiring agency for interview.     Today, Nevada is the nation's seventh largest state in land area. Several hundred mountain ranges cross its landscape, many with elevations over 10,000 feet. In contrast, the State's lowest point (along the Colorado River) is only 470 feet above sea level. From majestic mountains to desert valleys, nature has endowed Nevada with diverse and unique ecosystems.
