Definition and Class Characteristics INTERVIEWS FOR QUALIFIED CANDIDATES WILL BE HELD ON FRIDAY, AUGUST 1, 2025 Nevada County is seeking an Administrative Services Officer (ASO) to support the Information and General Services Departments. This is an advanced management position where individuals, under general direction, plan, organize, and direct the provision of administrative services. More importantly, the Administrative Services Officer provides administrative support to the Chief Fiscal/Administrative Officer.
Other vital duties include:
- Identify, analyze, and recommend solutions to various administrative and fiscal problems.
- Review and analyze applicable state and federal legislation for departmental impact.
- Assign and review the work of fiscal support staff; coordinate workflow and provide technical mentorship and assistance.
- Coordinate the preparation and present the annual budget, quarterly budget updates, and fiscal forecasting for each Department.
- Manage grant reporting and auditing requirements of various funding sources.
- Review and approve financial adjustments, journal entries, purchases, and contracts.
- Conduct special projects and administrative studies, preparing reports of findings and recommendations.
- Attend various Board, Commission, Committee, and other governmental and professional association meetings. Prepare agenda items for the Board of Supervisors.
- Develop time and cost studies of departmental operations and recommend changes to promote more efficient production.
- Confer with representatives of other agencies on administrative services problems.
The ASO is an integral part of the County's Information and General Services team whose mission is to be a healthy, effective high performing organization who are committed to serve and support our county and community. This position is crafted for individuals who have a Bachelor's degree with major course work in business, accounting, or a related field plus three years of administrative and fiscal management experience with at least two years at the level of an Administrative Services Associate with the County of Nevada is required. Additional qualifying experience may be substituted for the required education on a year for year basis to a maximum of two years. The ideal candidate has extensive knowledge and experience with budget and fiscal processes and procedures, is a collaborative teammate, and is enthusiastic about joining a fast-paced team!
