We are home to Nevada's ONLY Level I Trauma Center, Designated Pediatric Trauma Center, Burn Care Center, and Transplant Center. We are a Pathway Designated facility by ANCC, and we are on our journey to Magnet status. Position Summary:Performs complex, sensitive and professional clinical analysis to develop, implement, and evaluate various programs within Trauma Services, including educational programs for patients and the community. Duties include designing educational programs for the community, data collection and analysis, advanced clinical research, and assists the Director and Manager in the supervision of the Trauma Services Program.
Job RequirementEducation/Experience:Graduation from an accredited school of nursing and three (3) years of clinical nursing experience, one (1) of which was in a leadership role, and six (6) months of program development and implementation, and six (6) months of performance improvement and data management.
Licensing/Certification Requirements:Current Class C State of Nevada Driver’s License and ability to maintain license at all times while employed. Valid license from State of Nevada to practice as a Registered Nurse. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification accepted by the American Heart Association (AHA); Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) or Advanced Life Support (ALS) accepted by the American Red Cross within six (6) months of date of hire. Successful completion of the Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) within six (6) months of date of hire. Failure to obtain or maintain licensure and certifications may result in termination of employment.
Additional and/or Preferred Position RequirementsPreference will be given to applicants with the following experience: 1. A minimum five (5) years of nursing experience
2. A minimum one (1) year of Trauma, Emergency or ICU RN experience
3. Experience with data analysis, chart abstraction and data compilation Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Physical RequirementsKnowledge of:Nursing practices, federal, state, and local laws, regulations and standards of care; community agencies with interests in relevant services; emerging technology and processes; quality assurance and performance improvement principles and practices; child and adult educational principals and practices; nursing process (assessment, planning, implementation and coordination of patient care); disease process of illnesses or injuries in Emergency and Trauma departments; patient evaluation and assessment techniques; Nurse Practice Act, JCAHO, Federal and State regulations; modern principles and practices of program management; UMC policies and procedures; department and hospital safety practices and procedures; patient rights; infection control policies and practices; handling, storage, use and disposal of hazardous materials; department and hospital emergency response policies and practices; age specific patient care practices.
Skill in:Developing and implementing relevant community based educational programs and seminars; providing professional analytical and programmatic work; carrying assigned project(s) through, from data gathering to completion; using initiative and independent judgement within general policy guidelines; applying grant writing and grant management techniques; applying needs assessment techniques; developing public relations; performing statistical analysis; identifying potential problems and applying critical analysis techniques in problem solving; interpreting and analyzing patient medical charts; using computers and a variety of software applications; communicating with a wide variety of people from diverse socio-economic and ethnic backgrounds under stressful conditions; establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with all personnel contacted in the course of duties; efficient, effective and safe use of equipment.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:Mobility to work in a typical clinical setting, stamina to stand and/or walk for extended periods of time, vision to read printed materials and a VDT screen, and hearing and speech to communicate effectively in person and over the telephone. Strength and agility to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or an eligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
