  • Job Description

    The Job

    The Project & Facilities Management Department is recruiting for Sprinkler System Workers to install, modify, and maintain irrigation and drip irrigation systems, components, and controllers around County facilities.

    Duties include, but are not limited to:
    • Installing and repairing sprinkler heads, pipes, valves, low voltage electrical and controllers.
    • Utilizing smart technology to program controllers.
    • Reading irrigation system blueprints, preparing sketches, determining layouts and system components.
    • Determining materials needed for systems maintenance and modification.
    • Performing clock maintenance, replacing fuses and panels, and cleaning mechanisms.

    CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

    Pre-Employment Process: Applicants must successfully pass a background check and a job-related physical exam, including a drug test, prior to employment.

    Physical: This position requires frequent moving, lifting and carrying of items weighing up to 50 pounds as well as squatting, crawling, kneeling, and stooping.

    License: A valid California Class C Driver License is required to carry out the essential job-related functions of this position. Mileage reimbursement and proof of automobile liability insurance must be maintained.

    Minimum Requirements

    REQUIRED EXPERIENCE: One (1) year of full-time equivalent experience designing, installing, repairing, and maintaining water sprinkler systems.

    Desired Qualifications

    The ideal candidate will have experience installing and maintaining irrigation systems for a large commercial, institutional, or governmental landscaping operation. Experience using smart technology to program controllers remotely is desired.
