    Job Summary

    The Staff HR Investigation Manager serves as the primary investigator for staff-related conflict resolution matters, including other conduct of concern (OCC), employee/labor relations matters, staff workplace violence prevention program (WVPP) matters and other staff-related situations requiring in-depth fact finding. This position will also be involved with managing campus-wide training efforts around conflict resolution matters, including OCC, ER/LR matters, WVPP and other HR topics, along with the development and facilitation of related content. In addition, the incumbent will function as a management level HR generalist, cross trained to provide management level support to various Staff HR work units.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Serve as Staff HR's primary investigator for staff-related conflict resolution matters.
    • Manage campus-wide training efforts around conflict resolution matters, including the development and facilitation of related content.
    • Function as a management level HR generalist, working with various Staff HR units.


    Knowledge Skills and Abilities

    Thorough knowledge of general human-resources practices, campus procedures, and policies; demonstrated ability to lead investigations of complaints, prepare formal responses, and apply dispute-resolution techniques; excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills; proven capacity to engage effectively with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community; ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships, support a culture of mutual respect, and collaborate across all organizational levels; willingness to “roll up sleeves,” learn operational requirements, and provide hands-on support as needed; strong customer-service orientation, acting with integrity and exercising discretion on sensitive or confidential matters; commitment to excellence in work performance; ability to set priorities and deadlines for multiple simultaneous projects; capacity to multitask across various HR disciplines and independently manage competing priorities.

    Ability to communicate with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community. Ability to follow all university policies, procedures, and guidelines including but not limited to safety, civility, information security, and non-discrimination policies and procedures. Ability to contribute to a positive university experience for each and every student, and assist in achieving the university's commitment to a "vision of excellence."

    Education and Experience

    Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Public Administration or a related degree and a minimum of three years of related experience required. Experience in collective bargaining environment and in higher education preferred.

    Physical Summary

    Sedentary work - Involves mainly sitting. Walking and standing are minimal. Lifting is limited to lightweight objects. (10 pounds or less).

    Compensation

    Hiring Range: The hiring range for this position is $83,000 - 86,000/year commensurate with candidate's education, experience, skills, and training.

    Additional Information

    The person holding this position is considered a 'mandated reporter' under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and is required to comply with the requirements set forth in CSU Executive Order 1083 Revised July 21, 2017 as a condition of employment.

    A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily and is required for employment. CSU will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position.
