Our Recruitment & Classification (R&C) Unit is a team of 16 highly motivated, dedicated, and solution-driven professionals who strive to provide excellent customer service to our applicants, County employees, retirees, and the departments we serve. We are supportive and collaborative, working together to successfully craft recruitment strategies to fill a diverse array of positions, conduct comprehensive classification studies, and partner with departments to address organizational opportunities. Working as an R&C Analyst, you will report to a Principal Human Resources Analyst and will be assigned as a business partner to specific departments to address their recruitment and classification needs, as well as provide guidance to and collaborate with County managers regarding human resources rules, regulations, and best practices. You will also:
- Develop, coordinate, and execute recruitment strategies for a variety of positions
- Conduct job, historical recruitment, and organizational analyses to determine the most appropriate examination plan for recruitment
- Craft job announcements and effective advertising plans
- Screen applications for appropriate qualifications
- Advise departments on hiring steps from recruitment planning through onboarding and retention
- Provide written and verbal information to the public, employees, retirees, and other interested parties
- Conduct classification studies, including position reviews, revisions to existing classification specifications (job descriptions), and the development of new classifications and the appropriate salary ranges
- Deliver formal reports, presentations, trainings, and provide written and verbal information to the public, employees, retirees, labor organizations, and other interested parties, such as the Board of Supervisors and Civil Service Commission
While the position’s hours are typically Monday through Friday, from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, and work is performed in an office environment, R&C Analysts must be willing to work at community events, job fairs, and written exams. Depending upon operational needs, they must also be willing to work extra hours intermittently to complete specific tasks. Additionally, because R&C staff are integral to the effective operation of the County's Emergency Operations Center (EOC) Logistics team, they must also be willing to work during emergencies and other critical events. With supervisor/manager approval, flexible scheduling and telework arrangements may be available.
