The eligibility list may be utilized to fill vacancies for this classification for up to six (6) months or up to one (1) year, depending on employment status.**
Under general supervision, performs work of routine difficulty enforcing ordinances and regulations related to animals; and performs related work as assigned.
** NOTE TO CURRENT EMPLOYEES: - Pursuant to the Teamsters collective bargaining agreement, full-time non-probationary employees successfully completing the assessment process will be placed on an eligibility list to be used to fill vacancies in this classification for up to six (6) months.
- Probationary full-time, part-time, temporary employees, and external candidates who successfully complete the testing process will be placed on separate list(s), which may be used to fill vacancies for up to one (1) year. If the vacancy is not filled by full-time non-probationary employees, the separate list(s) may be utilized.

External candidates, probationary full-time, part-time, and temporary City of Henderson employees will start at the first step of the salary range, if selected.Minimum Qualifications- Graduation from high school or the equivalent
- One (1) year of experience providing care for animals within an animal shelter, veterinary office, animal hospital, or other closely-related agency or organization, which included direct public contact
- Must possess and maintain a valid Nevada or “border state” driver’s license, as defined by NRS 483
- Must be certified as an Animal Control Officer I with the National Association of Animal Care & Control (NACA) or the Essential Animal Services Training Credentialed Animal Control and Cruelty Investigation Training with Code 3 Associates at the time of application
- Must obtain certification by the Nevada State Board of Veterinary Medical Examiners as a Euthanasia Technician within one (1) year of the date of employment
- Must become registered by the Nevada State Board of Pharmacy to handle controlled substances within one (1) year of the date of employment
- All required licenses and certificates, as mandated by local, state, and federal laws, or as required herein, must be obtained and maintained as a condition of continued employment and at the incumbents’ expense
- Desirable: Experience as an Animal Protection Officer for a public or law enforcement agency
- Desirable: Certification as a Euthanasia Technician at the time of application
