Description:The
Head Start Family Services Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the Family and Community component area of the Head Start program, including supervision of the Family Support Specialists to ensure compliance with Head Start Federal Performance Standards, the Head Start Act, and the Head Start Parent Family and Community Engagement Framework. This role focuses on building Family Support Specialists’ family engagement skills and provides opportunities for all staff to engage families in the Head Start program. The
Supervisor ensures that outcome-based work plans are prepared and implemented according to Head Start requirements, and that best practices are implemented. This position will collaborate with local funding bodies, contractual partners, and other human service agencies, and implement transition services for children going to kindergarten from Head Start to engage families in the transition process.
SCHEDULE : This is a full-time, standard position that operates on a five-day work week (Monday-Friday). Occasional after-hours may be required , no weekends.
COMPENSATION : Hiring Range: $72,000 - $73,000 USD Annual
Compensation will be determined based on education, experience and skills.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES: - Oversight of family and community engagement across the Head Start program to support parental involvement in alignment with Head Start standards .
- Monitor overall component area performance and outcomes to ensure compliance with Head Start regulations, including family engagement, needs assessments, family visits, regular contacts, resource coordination, and goal setting through monthly monitoring .
- Monitor Child Care Assistance Program (CCAP) compliance for extended care program in coordination with eligibility staff. Coordinate with eligibility staff to ensure the program maintains full enrollment. Provide training for staff on methods for effectively engaging families, and reporting mandates for child abuse reporting.
- Recruit, hire, and supervise Family Support Specialists (FSS). Work with each FSS to ensure that Jefferson County Head Start staff fully integrate parent and family engagement into all areas of programming to support family well-being and promote child’s learning and development.
- Attend supervisor meetings to assist in program decision making and report on family and community component area.
- Oversight of community partnerships to ensure resource accessibility for families. Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with other Human Service programs and community agencies. Recruitment and oversight of volunteers within the program.
- Manage and implement eligibility, recruitment, selection , enrollment, and attendance. Adhere to requirements set forth in the Head Start Program Performance Standards to ensure that Jefferson County Head Start is fully enrolled with eligible families and that the program maintains a healthy waitlist of eligible families. Ensure eligibilities are completed in compliance with all Head Start Regulations and that eligibility staff and all staff receive the required training . Ensure program representation at resource fairs, community events, and other agencies to recruit potential Head Start clients. Create and oversee the implementation of a school-wide recruitment plan, ensuring that recruitment efforts are targeted to meet the needs of diverse populations. Maintain documentation of recruitment efforts.
- Supervises staff in area of responsibility. Administers and makes recommendations for routine personnel matters affecting subordinates, including recruiting, interviewing, hiring, training, assigning, scheduling, granting leave, appraisals, and taking corrective action. Conducts performance evaluations and communicates short- and long-term goals and objectives . Submits personnel records and reports as required by the County. Assists and advises subordinates as necessary, resolves problems as non-routine situations arise, and ensures adherence to established policies, procedures and standards. Communicates changes in policy and procedures to direct reports and implements them as directed.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degreeAND t hree (3) years of work-related experience
AND
- Two (2) years of supervisory experience
- OR an equivalent combination of education & experience
Preferred knowledge, skills and abilities :
- Master’s degree in Human Services or related field
- Strong customer service
- Ability to articulate clearly and effectively to varying levels of customers
- Experience with Microsoft Office/Microsoft 365
- Strong time management and prioritization skills
- Previous supervisory experience
- Previous Head Start experience
