The JobSan Bernardino County’s Legal, Law, and Justice Departments are seeking a Senior Legal Support Assistant. Under general supervision, the
Senior Legal Support Assistant performs advanced, journey-level specialized legal clerical work. Duties include preparing, reviewing, and processing a wide range of legal documents, records, and correspondence in accordance with applicable laws and regulations, in support of the County's legal offices and legal divisions. The incumbent may also be responsible for entering important client information into an attorney's case management system or Child Support Enforcement System.
The resulting eligible list may be used to fill vacancies within San Bernardino County. Candidates should indicate the specific offices where they are willing to accept an assignment.
Please do not select any offices with which you are not willing to work. This list will be used exclusively for positions within the

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT Background: A background investigation will be conducted, including a DOJ/FBI fingerprint check and drug screening. Some departments may require a credit check depending on the assigned unit.
Travel: Travel throughout the County may be required and employees will be required to make provisions for such transportation.

Minimum Requirements CANDIDATES MUST MEET ONE OF THE FOLLOWING OPTION REQUIREMENTS: Option 1: One (1) year of full-time clerical support which includes providing information to law enforcement officers, attorneys, officers of the court, or staff members in a professional office setting (i.e. providing court case numbers, court room information, citation information, processing subpoenas, providing names of attorneys assigned to cases, law enforcement information, maintaining case files, and providing child support information).
Option 2: One (1) year of full-time office clerical experience performing legal or case-related clerical support duties. Experience must include direct or indirect support of attorneys or caseworkers within the Department of Child Support Services, or in other legal or public sector offices such as the District Attorney, Public Defender, or County Counsel Offices in San Bernardino County or comparable public agency.
Option 3: One (1) year of full-time office clerical experience performing direct or indirect legal or case-related clerical support as a Child Support Assistant (or equivalent) in a county agency overseen by a State Department of Child Support Services.
Substitution: Completion of a Legal Administrative Assistant, Legal Secretary or Paralegal program from a recognized occupational training program or community business college may substitute for six (6) months of the required clerical work experience.

Desired QualificationsThe ideal candidate will have experience performing advanced legal clerical duties in a fast-paced legal environment. The incumbent will demonstrate a strong understanding of legal terminology, court procedures, and applicable laws and regulations. Proficiency in preparing and processing a variety of legal documents with a high degree of accuracy, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work independently while meeting strict deadlines is highly desirable. Experience supporting attorneys in a public sector or governmental legal office is highly desired.
