    Position Description
    Manages and directs the day-to-day operations of a research center/institute or medium-sized department. Plans, coordinates and supervises the operation and activities of the center/institute/department. Develops and implements policies and procedures, administers the budget, organizes tasks and sets priorities.

    Major/Essential Functions
    1. Strategic Leadership:
      1. Develop and implement the strategic vision for the Translational Research Program.
      2. Establish and maintain the program's goals, objectives, and performance metrics.
      3. Identify emerging trends and opportunities in translational research to inform strategic direction.
      4. 2.Research Management:
        1. Oversee the planning, execution, and evaluation of all translational research projects.
        2. Foster interdisciplinary collaboration among clinical and basic science researchers.
        3. Ensure that research activities comply with ethical standards and regulatory requirements.
        4. (3)Laboratory Operations:
          1. Manage the daily operations of the research laboratory, ensuring efficiency and high standards.
          2. Oversee the procurement, maintenance, and utilization of laboratory equipment and resources.
          3. Ensure that laboratory practices adhere to safety protocols and compliance regulations.
          4. (4)Team Leadership and Development:
            1. Recruit, mentor, and manage a team of researchers, laboratory staff, and administrative personnel.
            2. Promote a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous learning within the team.
            3. Provide professional development opportunities and support for team members.
            4. 5Grant and Funding Management:
              1. Identify and pursue funding opportunities from federal agencies, private foundations, and industry partners.
              2. Oversee the preparation and submission of grant applications, ensuring alignment with strategic goals.
              3. Manage the program's budget, ensuring optimal allocation of resources.
    1. Partnership and Collaboration:
      1. Establish and maintain partnerships with pharmaceutical and biotech companies, academic institutions, and other stakeholders.
      2. Facilitate collaborative research projects and clinical trials with external partners.
        1. Represent the program at conferences, symposia, and industry events.
        2. Evaluation and Reporting:
          1. Implement metrics to evaluate the success of research projects, partnerships, and laboratory operations.
          2. Prepare and present regular reports on the program's progress, outcomes, and impact to senior leadership.
          3. Ensure transparent and effective communication with all stakeholders.


    Required Qualifications
    Bachelor's degree plus six years of progressively responsible management experience OR a combination of education and/or years of experience in management to equal a minimum of 10 years.
