    Description

    Supervises personnel in field data collection of transit service data to support Metro's National Transit Database reporting mandate.

    Examples of Duties

    • Directs the daily oversight of department operations through the review of employee work and facilitating necessary training
    • Oversees the collection of transit service data from field assignments
    • Monitors and evaluates quality of computerized schedule checking data
    • Maintains computerized data collection system and writes system instructions
    • Develops and maintains computer listing of checks conducted
    • Establishes weekly checking programs and assignments to ensure transit service data needs are met
    • Conducts bidding process and awards bids to Schedule Checkers
    • Verifies and monitors daily pay time and mileage submittals
    • Conducts field supervision for quality control and to ensure compliance with Metro rules and regulations
    • Oversees the maintenance of personnel records, including updating of vacation, holidays, sick, miss-outs, and discipline records
    • Supervises and trains subordinates
    • Accounts for subordinates and personal compliance with all of Metro's safety rules, polices, and procedures
    • Contributes to ensuring that the Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) policies and programs of Metro are carried out

    Minimum Qualifications

    A combination of education and/or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the position. Additional experience, as outlined below, may be substituted for required education on a year-for-year basis. A typical combination includes:

    Education
    • Associates Degree in Computer Information Systems


    Experience
    • Two years of relevant experience as a Schedule Checker, Scheduling Systems Associate, or Schedule Analyst or three years of relevant experience performing transportation coordination functions or three years of relevant experience providing administrative support in a transit agency


    Certifications/Licenses/Special Requirements
    • On-call work and travel as required


    Essential Knowledge

    Knowledge of (defined as a learned body of information that is required for and applied in the performance of job tasks)
    • Theories, principles, and practices of transit schedule checking and work run development
    • Applicable local, state, and federal laws, rules, and regulations governing transportation policies in a public agency
    • Schedule making and checking computer systems and equipment
    • Metro transit operations, service areas, running times, practices, and procedures
    • Data collection methods
    • Direction and time concepts
    • English usage, grammar, punctuation, and spelling
    • Basic math and recordkeeping
    • Principles of supervision
    • Applicable business software applications


    Skill in (defined as the proficient manual, verbal, or mental utilization of data, people, or things)
    • Planning, organizing, and monitoring the collection of schedule checking data from field assignments
    • Analyzing situations, identifying problems, and recommending solutions
    • Ensuring quality control of collected data
    • Preparing comprehensive reports and correspondence
    • Communicating effectively orally and in writing
    • Interacting professionally with various levels of Metro employees and outside representatives
    • Operating a data collecting hand-held device and a personal computer

    Group Life Insurance- PTSC pays for an amount equal to your annual salary, rounded up to the nearest $1,000. Minimum amount of life insurance is $30,000.

    Accidental Death & Dismemberment Insurance- PTSC provides $50,000 coverage for each employee. Additional voluntary coverage in amounts up to $500,000 is available at favorable premium rates.

    Long-Term Disability Insurance- 100% employer paid. Provides employees with a minimum income of 60% of earnings after six months of disability. Buy up or buy down options available.

    Pension Plan- PTSC retirement plan is the Public Employees' Retirement System (PERS). Vesting is five (5) years. Minimum retirement age is 52, based on the 2% at 62 formula.
