About the Position:

The Office of Diversity, Inclusion and Equity Programs (DIEP) supports the Cal State Fullerton mission of preparing our diverse student body for academic and professional success. We develop and support practices, programming, and policies across the broad spectrum of inclusivity, equity, and civility for the Cal State Fullerton campus community. We seek an exceptional individual to join our team as the Engagement and Learning Specialist (Administrative Analyst/Specialist Non-Exempt). Within DIEP and under general supervision of the Director of Engagement and Learning, the Engagement and Learning Specialist assists in coordinating the University's effort to build and maintain a campus environment that is inclusive, equitable, and diverse. This position actively engages the campus community in education, strategy development and implementation to improve and sustain engagement, inclusion, and diversity practices across the University community. Serving as both administrative and logistical specialist for DIEP’s learning and engagement efforts, the Engagement and Learning Specialist performs a vast array of specialized administrative operational functions and analytical duties.

This position performs a full range of responsibilities for a vast array of administrative operational functions for multiple services related to the implementation and expansion of programs and events aimed at fostering a climate of inclusion at the University. Specifically, the Engagement and Learning Specialist develops and maintains relationships with a variety of constituent groups on campus. They provide oversight for affinity and identity-based programming, including goal setting and the creation, implementation, and management of new and existing engagement programs designed to meet organizational needs. Other duties as assigned.

Essential Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university and/or the equivalent training and administrative work experience involving the study, analysis, evaluation, development or improvement of administrative policies, procedures, practices, or programs. Working knowledge of the general practices, program, or administrative specialty. Basic knowledge of and the ability to apply fundamental concepts. Working knowledge of budget policies and procedures. Ability to learn, interpret, and apply a wide variety of policies and procedures relating to and impacting the applicable program, organizational unit or administrative specialty. Knowledge of and the ability to apply basic methods and procedures used for research and statistical analysis. Ability to analyze data and make accurate projections using business mathematics and basic statistical techniques. Ability to make independent decisions, exercise sound judgment, handle multiple priorities, and organize and plan work assignments. Ability to compile, write, and present reports related to program or administrative specialty. Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships.

A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily and is required for employment. CSU will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to complete the background check satisfactorily may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor or graduate degree in Education, Sociology, or related field. Experience operating a learning management system. Two years of experience related to employee or student engagement, inclusion and diversity including training, consultation, process improvement and practices around issues of social justice, employee or community engagement, and effective diversity skill development. Prior experience working at an institution of higher education. Experience with or willingness to learn how to use e-learning platforms and the Learning Management Systems.

License/Certifications

A Valid California Driver's License.
